Metal Gear Solid V: TPP Guide- How to Unlock the Wormhole Fulton Device

MGS V meets Portal.
This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain allows for players to do some crazy things. You can use animals against enemies, call in a walking tank, have a sniper (who can turn invisible at the drop of a dime) scout locations, and send people through portals. Wait, what?

Yup, it turns out that strapping soldiers and vehicles to balloons in Metal Gear Solid V: TPP just wasn’t crazy enough for Kojima and his team. The future of resource collection relies on portals, and you can claim one of these awesome tools for yourself as long as you complete a few tasks first.

First you must complete Mission 31 because doing so will unlock Side Op 50 ‘Capture the Legendary Jackal.’ Like with all Side Ops, there is a chance it won’t immediately appear if you have too many Side Ops sitting around undone. Clear a few if need be in order to be able to go out on this particular mission. Once completed you’ll get the notification that the requirements have been met for your to develop the Fulton +Wormhole.

Raise your R&D and Support Units to Level 40 (if you haven’t already) and save up a whopping 850K GMP, and you’re ready to develop one of the coolest gadgets in Metal Gear Solid V: TPP.

The Wormhole Fulton takes around 2 1/2 hours to develop, so just go have fun while you wait. It can’t be shot down (since there is no balloon), has guaranteed success at all times, and can even be used indoors (perfect for those tricky hostage rescues). It really is one of the most usefull item in the entire game and is well worth the effort of obtaining.
