Anyone and their grandmother can tell you that getting an Amiibo these days is slightly more difficult than avoiding spoilers for upcoming Marvel movies. Whether by design or by accident, Amiibo shortages are all the more common, and on the chances that there are Amiibos that show up, they could end up stolen. Hell, it’s to the point where our joke piece on acquiring them is starting to feel like valid suggestions. Disney Infinity’s executive producer John Vignocchi spoke with Game Informer’s Ben Hanson about the Amiibo shortage, and like everyone else, he is not happy. When asked by Hanson about the inevitably high demand for Star Wars figures that’ll come when Disney Infinity 3.0 releases in the fall, Vignocchi assured that shortage wouldn’t be the case:
“There is never an intention to create a shortage of any figures. It is irresponsible and rude to your hardcore fans. They don’t want to create frustration or the hunt.”
Whereas Amiibos are annoyingly difficult to get your hands on, Disney Infinity toys are incredibly easy to find. You can go to just about any store you can think of that sells toys, and there’ll be at least 20 of the things in stock for kids to fawn over and buy. So if your kid’s birthday is coming up in the fall, you’d probably have better luck getting some Disney Infinity toys instead of an Amiibo.
