In order to increase your fireteam’s chances of survival, you’re going to want to hold down a specific area in the arena. Once you enter the Prison of Elders’ Hive arena immediately make your way to the left along with your fireteam. There is an area with a large generator and a low hanging wall that will prevent any damage from the front. Now, all you need to do is cover the sides.

The fight with Urrox includes large waves of additional enemies, but there is a surprising amount of time between the waves, so thinning them out once they appear is a great idea for two reasons. First, the waves come with Ogres which can be a pain in the behind when trying to maintain cover. Two, thrall and cursed thrall tend to make surviving the burning floor hell.

Clearing out the arena allows the fireteam ten seconds of peace while avoiding the Searing Flames effect on the ground. During this time, all focus should be on staying alive, and having to deal with threats can make ten seconds feel like an eternity. If you are unable to clear out all of the adds for whatever reason, try and focus on the Thrall and Cursed Thrall. While everyone can be considered a threat in the Prison of Elders, the Thrall are the only Hive that seem to be bold enough to get right in your guardian’s face.

One other thing to worry about are burn modifiers. Solar Burn is pretty much the game handing you victory on a silver platter, but Arc Burn can spell out disaster for a fireteam. Urrox, like all long range Hive Knights, does Arc Damage with a considerable amount of splash. Even without a burn he can kill most guardians in about two hits, with a burn it could be instant death, even if you think you may have dodged a direct hit. Add to that the Wizards, Knights, and Acolytes and you’ll need to make sure someone covers each side at all times with only one focused on the boss.
