2018 Winter Olympics Features Japanese Athletes Skating to Yuri on Ice

The 2018 Winter Olympics is in full swing, with figure skating helping to kickstart the event. Among the various athletes participating in the event were two Japanese figure skaters, Miu Suzaki and Ryuichi Kihara, who performed their program to the titular track from skating anime Yuri on Ice.

That said, this isn’t the first time the duo performed to the same musical piece. They skated to the same track twice last year – back in July during an event in Detroit and another one in September. However, this marks the first time the figure skaters performed it at the Olympics, making for a pretty interesting presentation.

Yuri on Ice has become quite the anime phenomenon since it originally aired two years ago. The story follows protagonist Yuuri Katsuki as he strives to compete in the Grand Prix Finals following a crushing blow in his career. He gets help from his new coach and long-time idol, Victor Nikiforov, and the two develop an interesting relationship that brings out the best in both characters.

To follow the intense figure skating competition, you can follow the 2018 Winter Olympics. Those who are interested in Yuri on Ice, on the other hand, can watch the show via streaming services, such as Crunchyroll or Funimation.
