Super Mario Odyssey: Is There Co-op?

Is There Co-op in Super Mario Odyssey

Recommended Videos

Super Mario Odyssey is finally out in the wild, and players will be able to once again take Mario on adventure. This time, he’ll be venturing out of the Mushroom Kingdom and will be able to visit other kingdoms each with their own unique style and personality. Since there are two pretty important characters in Super Mario Odyssey, fans might be wondering of co-op will be an option in SMO. Maybe to surprise of some, yes, co-op is indeed possible in SMO!

Super Mario Odyssey’s new character, Cappy, is a magical hat that will ride along on Mario’s head throughout his adventure. Cappy has the ability to possess lots of objects in the SMO universe and which in turn, gives Mario the ability to temporarily turn into those objects to solve various puzzles. Things ranging from traffic cones to a giant T-Rex are all in play here.

Co-op in Super Mario Odyssey works like this: One player of course controls Mario, while the other controls Cappy. When in control from another player, Cappy will float above Mario’s head and is free to explore on its own and can collect coins and other useful things. This is done by splitting up the joy cons, having each player use one.

That does it for co-op in SMO. For more on Super Mario Odyssey, be sure to check out our wiki guide for more tips, tricks, and walkthroughs.
