Fire Emblem Echoes: How to Get a Preemptive Attack in Dungeons

How to Get a Preemptive Attack in Fire Emblem Echoes

Recommended Videos

Dungeons are a big addition in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, splitting off from the traditional tactical gameplay to let you explore a dangerous location filled with enemies. Of course running into said enemies launches you into a small grid-based tactical battle with your chosen party.

The good news is that you’ll be able to get a leg up on your enemies, by hitting them to begin the battle with a preemptive strike. While roaming a dungeon you can attack with the A button, and if you dash with X or B and then hit the attack button you’ll charge into an enemy. Time your attacks carefully and make sure to hit each enemy you engage with. A preemptive strike will start you closer to the enemy allowing you to strike with the first tun, and it’ll also take a small portion off of each enemy unit’s health. Since you’ll be battling a lot of enemies in dungeons, it’s important to strike first and give yourself the advantage. Of course, keep in mind that if an enemy hits you in the back they’ll be given the first turn, putting you in a tough spot.
