Customizing Your Kart in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Recommended Videos

At the start of a race, when you pick your character, you’ll be given a chance to customize your kart with various parts in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Out of the box, you’ll have access to different kart bodies, various wheel types, and gliders. You’ll start by choosing your main kart body, then you’ll get to choose your wheels, and lastly you get to choose the glider. All of the DLC parts are also made available to you once you boot up the game.

Once you’re happy with the way your kart looks, go ahead and start the race to see how it looks in all its glory.

Of course, you’ll be able to to unlock a lot more parts as well. Just like in the Wii U version of the game, you’ll still have to collect coins during the races in order to unlock them. The gold parts are a little trickier to unlock. You’ll have to achieve a star rank in every cup in Mirror mode, beat the staff ghosts in the 150cc trials, and collect a total of 10,000 coins.
