Free Digital Games
The most popular feature of PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live is easily the free games subscribers get every month. It helps add extra value to the service that players are paying for, and it’s always exciting to see what new titles you can get your hands on each month.
Nintendo is using the same concept as Sony and Microsoft, but putting a bit of a twist on it. Paid service subscribers will be getting one classic NES or SNES game each month for free. However, there is a new addition as these SNES games will have online play added in. It’s a fun idea to give players some nostalgia-laden titles, while providing them some extra value and features. The downside to this is that the games offered will only be available for that month, and to continue playing after the offered period, you’ll need to purchase the classic.
Hopefully, Nintendo’s offerings will expand at some point to include new games rather than just these retro titles. Nintendo has some stellar classic titles, but in the face of new games with PS Plus and Xbox Live, you have to wonder if classic games will appeal to everyone.
