Could we be returning to the underground tunnels?
The Metro series has had two entries into the world of video games, with Metro 2033 in 2010 and Metro: Last Light in 2013. For anyone that doesn’t know, however, the games are actually based off of the popular Russian novel series by Dmitry Glukhovsky, also known as Metro.
A new website has just gone up for the third and final entry in book series titled Metro 2035, the website holds a clue for the next Metro game. There’s a handy timeline at the bottom of the main page that walks visitors through the book and game releases, and ends with “The next Metro video game,” listed at 2017.
Up until this point we hadn’t heard any word on if there would be another Metro game, but this seemingly confirms it. There are no details about the potential game at this point, and we’ll have to wait and see if 4A Games, the developer of the previous titles, will be returning. The site hints that the next game could take place after Metro 2035, and continue on from the end of the series saying,
“It all adds up to something. Where the books end their story, the game will pick it up. An era of great discoveries lies ahead…”
Metro is a post apocalyptic series that takes place in an alternate world’s Russia, where humanity has basically driven themselves to near extinction through the use of nuclear radiation. Here’s an overview of the first book from the Metro 2035 website,
“The year is 2033. The few survivors of the WWIII find a new home in the stations and tunnels of the Moscow subway. But their tiny world is threatened by a new horrible threat. Their demise would mean the end of humanity. Artyom, who is just twenty-four, is the only one who can save them — or condemn us all to extinction.”
Stay tuned for more confirmation and more info on the next entry on the Metro series. Metro 2035, the novel, will release on Dec. 10. The developers of the game series, 4A Games, also recently announced a new VR horror game they’re making for Oculus Touch, called ARKTIKA.1.
