Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Will Feature Eye Tracking on PC, For a Price

Deus Ex Mankind Divided

The futuristic themes of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided are crossing over into the real world.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided developer Eidos Montreal announced today that it is partnering with Tobii in order to bring eye tracking functionality to the PC version of the game. The plan here is to increase the immersion of the upcoming title by giving gamers the option to pair it with the Tobii EyeX controller, a device that allows players to perform certain in-game actions using only their eyes.

This partnership will essentially result in an enhanced version of the Deus Ex, as players will feel like Adam Jensen himself when they aim just by staring at enemies. Firing will still require the press of a button, though. In addition, the Tobii EyeX controller brings a number of other features to the table, such as the ability to extend the field of view by looking at the edge of the screen or the ability to perform an Icarus Dash by simply gazing in a certain direction.

“With the Deus Ex franchise being a window to the future, we always try to provide innovative, ground-breaking experiences for our players,” says André Vu, Executive Brand Director at Eidos Montréal. “The numerous Tobii eye tracking features built into the game will provide PC gamers an extra layer of immersion that blends perfectly with the futuristic universe depicted in Deus Ex.”

Although the increased functionality is a wet dream for any member of the master race, PC gamers should be aware that gaining access to all the new features is not cheap. Aside from having to purchase a copy of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, players will also have to buy the controller itself, which the Sweden-based company currently sells for no less than €119 (around $132). Alternatively, it’s worth noting that Tobii is giving away free copies of the game to every new customer that purchases one of their controllers, however, that deal only extends to the digital version.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided launches on August 23rd across the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
