Volition
Best Griffa Skills in Mad Max
Mad Max gives players some options on how to tailor Max to their playstyle. One of the ways that the game does this is through Griffa, the wandering mystery man who knows a ton about your past and can channel your inner warrior in order to increase your stats and skills. Of course, choosing from the ten skills can be a bit troubling when you’re never told just how much the skills will help.
The first skill you’re going to want to drop some of your hard earned Griffa Coins on is Volition. Volition increases the chance of obtaining extra scrap while scavenging with every coin spent on this skill. The bonus doesn’t apply to scrap taken off of defeated melee enemies, but it does count towards scrap from demolished vehicles in Mad Max and scrap found in bases.
This may not improve your survivability directly, but scrap is used to purchase upgrades for Max and the Magnum Opus. The more you can pick up, the sooner you’ll be able to beef up your offense and defense.
Adaptation
Best Griffa Skills in Mad Max
Mad Max is a game that is just as much about your ride as it is Max himself. In the spirit of realism, the Magnum Opus requires gas to run. Gas can be found in many places and you can even keep a spare gas can with you to fill up in the middle of the road. The thing is that filling up in the middle of the wasteland while there are tons of people trying to kill you is not in your best interest.
Adaptation makes it so that your Magnum Opus uses less gas in Mad Max. That means more driving and less stopping. It also means you can use all of those gas cans for what the good lord originally intended: blowing shit up. There’s something magical about watching things go up in flames in the middle of the desert.
Munition
Best Griffa Skills in Mad Max
Mad Max takes place in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, so it’s perfectly understandable that some resources aren’t as common as you’d expect. Chief of these resources is ammunition. This means sniper bullets, shotgun shells, and shivs. Fighting with your fists is fun and all, but some of the more challenging encounters in Mad Max will require something with a bit more punch.
The Munition skill ups the chances of acquiring extra ammo from looting. That means spare shells for your shotgun, extra shivs to slit some throats, and more shots while you’re whipping around the desert. Not to mention the times when Scrotus Emblems (found in every base in Mad Max) are in a location that requires you to use one of your precious shells.
The sting of wasting ammo is much less when you know you can acquire more.
Longevity
Best Griffa Skills in Mad Max
You would think the limited amount of ranged enemies would make things a lot more manageable in Mad Max, but nope. You will get hit and it will happen quite often.
In order to make sure that you’re able to stick around during difficult fights, you’ll want to invest in Longevity. Unlike most of the other skills that Griffa can unlock for you in Mad Max, this one is a guaranteed increase to your life, allowing you to take more punishment out in the wasteland. It will also help for when you get into an ugly crash and are sent flying from your Magnum Opus.
One other thing to remember is that healing is automatic and, depending on how you play, you may not always have the resources to heal when you finally catch a breather, so Longevity should definitely be one of your top priorities.
Essence
Best Griffa Skills in Mad Max
In Mad Max, there are two ways to heal. The first is to eat food that you stumble across (usually in the form of dog food, or maggots ripped from some unlucky corpse), but this can prove to be extremely rare. Normally, you’ll cross at least one can of food during base takeovers, but rarely will you see any out in the wild. The second way is with the water in your canteen. Water can be found much more often than food, but finding a source that will completely fill your canteen isn’t a common occurrence.
Essence changes that by granting you more water when filling your canteen. A few coins into this skill will pretty much guarantee that you’ll have a full canteen every time you hit up a water source in Mad Max. That means more healing juice. Also, since drinking water can be stopped mid action, it’s a safer way to heal during dangerous moments. This is unlike food, which locks you into an animation and leaves you vulnerable.
Investing in these five skill first will keep you surviving a lot longer than most. Mad Max is set in a dangerous world, so you’re going to need all of the advantages you can get.
