Fortunately for you, we’re here to explain the process in minute detail.

How to Perfect Reload in Gears 5

After firing off the clip in your weapon of choice in Gears 5, you’ll need to reload by pressing the Right Bumper (RB). Doing this will initiate the reload cycle, after which you’ll be able to fire your weapon again.

However, as this cycle is being carried out, a line can be seen cycling through a bar just below your weapon’s ammo count display, passing through different shades of the bar.

Pressing RB again will cause the line to stop, and depending on where in the bar it stops, you can reload your weapon faster and, in the case of a Perfect Reload, increase the weapon’s damage for a time.

To get a Perfect Reload in Gears 5 though, you’ll need to stop the line in the lightest, smallest section of the bar, which can be a challenge if you don’t use these tricks.

How to Increase Your Chances of Getting a Perfect Reload

For starters, make sure you’re in cover before attempting to reload. This will make it easier to focus on landing the line in the middle of the bar, as opposed to doing so while avoiding enemy fire.

Next, press RB to reload your weapon. This will activate the line that moves through the bar below your reload counter. Wait until it’s just outside of the exact center of the bar, and then press RB again.

This will help to account for any lag on the game’s or your part, and can be adjusted timing-wise as you become more skilled in landing Perfect Reloads.

Otherwise, just rinse and repeat the process to get some practice in, and before long you’ll be performing Perfect Reloads with the best of Gears 5’s players.

Hopefully, this cleared up how to Perfect Reload in Gears 5. For more on Gears 5, check out our guide wiki as well as one of the game’s most recent developer updates.
