Splatoon 2: How to Perform a Dodge Roll

Stop, drop, and roll.

Performing a Dodge Roll in Splatoon 2

Recommended Videos

While there’s no default control setup that lets you perform a cool dodge roll in Splatoon 2, there are weapons that will let you do just that. Dual-wielding weapons such as the Hero Dualies, for instance, will allow you to dodge and roll around the map while you’re firing, giving you more mobility and allowing you to avoid enemy fire.

Whenever you have the Dualies equipped, all you have to do is press the jump button (the B button on Switch) while firing to perform a dodge roll. You’ll only be able to execute the dodge roll while you’re firing. Pressing the button while you’re just moving around normally will cause you to jump slightly in the air. This is a good tip to keep in mind, especially for players who enjoy using the Dualies. You’ll enjoy a faster rate of fire, along with the ability to avoid enemy paint easily. You can also transform into a squid immediately after a dodge roll, and take cover in the paint as you reload for your next skirmish.

More About Splatoon 2

Splatoon 2 is the follow-up to Splatoon, the inky shooter game released on the Wii U two years ago. Take control of a kid, splat your enemies with ink, and transform into a squid whenever you feel like it.
