Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will support cross-buy across Xbox One and Windows 10 PC, Microsoft confirmed today. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer announced the Capcom title is joining the Xbox Play Anywhere program in a tweet.
An Xbox Play Anywhere title allows players to buy the title once and own a copy for both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. Save progress and downloadable content can be synced between the two platforms using Microsoft’s cloud service. The title must be bought digitally through the Xbox Store or Windows Store. Resident Evil 7 is available on Steam, but buying through Valve’s service does not give a copy for Xbox One.
Microsoft instituted the Xbox Play Anywhere program last September for its first party titles to sync and support multiplayer across Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs. Some titles include Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, and ReCore. Two indie titles, Everspae and Astroneer, are in the program, but Resident Evil 7 is the first game by a major publisher to support the program.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard launches Jan. 24 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
