You Can Get Free Sea of Thieves Cosmetic Events By Watching X018 on Mixer

X018 is just days away now, and Microsoft is hoping to use the event to pull in more Mixer users by offering them an incentive for tuning into it on their streaming platform. Sea of Thieves put out the following tweet earlier today, detailing just what those goodies will be:

This isn’t the first time that Sea of Thieves has given away these Obsidian items, however. At Xbox’s E3 conference earlier this year, codes including a full Obsidian set of item skins (a long-range Obsidian rifle, along with an Obsidian Lantern, Drum, Spyglass, Speaking Trumpet, and Pocket Watch) were given away to those that attended the event.

Since E3, it has proven to be quite the coveted set of items in the meta game of Sea of Thieves, with some people selling their codes for these items for as much as $89.99 on eBay. It’s a smart move on Microsoft’s part, as it’s a great way to get the hardcore Sea of Thieves players to check out Mixer and get some of these coveted skins.

But could there be more to this than meets the eye? Indulge me for a moment while I put on my tinfoil cap: Why bring back these Obsidian skins? Some people certainly do want these items, but maybe they’re hinting at an announcement regarding their rumored acquisition of Obsidian Entertainment. Probably not, but it’s certainly fun to think about.
