The Sims 4 Nifty Knitting Is Here & It’s Super Cozy; Everything You Need to Know

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

If you’ve ever wanted to unleash your inner boomer in a life simulator game, your time has finally come with the release of The Sims 4’s new Stuff Pack, Nifty Knitting. It released today and has already captured the grandmother within me with its adorable aesthetic.

Having been voted into existence by the Simming community itself, expectations for this release have been high. Let’s talk about what’s in it first.

Nifty Knitting

Starting with new hairstyles and clothing options in Create-a-Sim, Nifty Knitting brings a new crafty look to your game. The Sims 4 now has ten new stylish masculine and feminine outfits with six of those remaining locked until your Sim has learned specific Nifty Knitting traits. If you love sweaters and comfy socks, then you have a lot going on for you here.

If you’ve gotten your Sim family all crafty and ready, you can move them into their new home and start up their knitting careers by purchasing a Beginner’s Yarn Basket or a Super Stash Yarn Basket in the game’s Build Mode.

Place it wherever you’d like and have your Sim put it in their inventory where they will be able to use it. Simply navigate to their inventory, click on the basket, and select the “Knit” action.

You can go on to put your Sim’s beanie, their first creation, on “Plopsy” for sale by selecting the newly crafted item from their inventory and choosing to list it.

Plopsy is one of my personal favorite Nifty Knitting features. While it does seem to take longer as a Simoleon-earning activity, it is definitely cheaper than other creative methods the game has to offer (e.g. painting– earns a lot of money but is also costly).

Your Sim can keep track of their Plopsy through the computer, and it’s a cute, clearly Etsy-inspired mechanic.

This Stuff Pack is also a clutter maniac’s sweetest dream (guilty). It comes with all sorts of new items to fill in those gaps on your Sims’ shelves like a knitter’s almanac, and cozy pieces of furniture such as rocking chairs to really give your house the grandmotherly vibes.

Make sure to check out some of the pre-made rooms in Build Mode like “Granny Chic” for some inspiration.

That’s the main run-down of Nifty Knitting’s most important features. Experienced Simmers at this point know the deal with Stuff pack. Personally, Nifty Knitting is speaking to me. If this seems up your alley as well, it’s available for purchase now.
