HOW TO GET HIGH SCORES IN NEX MACHINA
Nex Machina, Housemarque’s new twin-stick shooter, is all about replaying the worlds to get the highest score possible and make your way up the leaderboards.
While defeating all the robotic enemies in every level and refraining from dying keeps your score multiplier high and helps with high scores, there are other ways to add to your score and see you shoot to the top of the leaderboards.
In every world there is a set number of humans and for every one you save, you are awarded an additional 1,000 points. There are five secret humans in each stage, each of which are worth 5,000 points. There will be four secret exits and three beacons, each of which are also worth 5,000 points. You will find additional enemies called Disruptors or Visitors in each world. There will be three of the former and five of the latter, and each is worth 5,000 points. Quickly saving humans also helps with your Human Combo which awards 2,000 points for every multiplier level. Finally, you will also be awarded points in relation to how quickly you finish each world.
Taking into account all these additional point possibilities can be the difference between a good and a great score in a world. While you shouldn’t disregard multipliers and saving your lives, they are certainly important for making your score better and setting you apart from the rest.
