A new adventure in the Mega Man X series may be on the way, as teased in the Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 soundtrack booklet that has broken street date in Japan. Mega Man fan blog Rockman Corner received a translation from an image of the album booklet posted by Twitter user guu_tara. This particular image is of the composer commentary section for each entry in the series. After Mega Man X8, there is a caption that reads when translated: “The Story of X’s fight is not yet over”.

As Rockman Corner points out, this translation could mean a number of things, but it would be safe to assume that this could hint at a future Mega Man X9. This assumption would certainly fall in line with Capcom’s current trend. The success of the original Mega Man Legacy Collection 1+2 helped gauge interest in the franchise and birthed the upcoming Mega Man 11. Rockman Corner also cites that before Mega Man 9, the 20th Anniversary book also teased a new entry in this way with “The legend is not yet complete”.

The Mega Man Legacy Collection 1+2 is just around the corner and will provide all of the Mega Man X games in one package. This collection will include some new features like X Challenge, which allows players select two bosses from across the X series to face off against. Also recently announced is an easy mode called Rookie Hunter, which will be included for series newcomers. If the collection does well enough, Capcom’s tease of X9 may come to fruition.

The Mega Man X Legacy is due out just next week on July 24 on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
