New Destiny 2 Update Makes It Easier to Get New Exotics, Masterwork Core Changes Inbound as Well

The new Forsaken expansion was certainly a step in the right direction for Bungie and Destiny 2. Bungie overhauled the weapons system, and made other changes to essentially get the game to feel more like how it was during the original Destiny prime period.

With the latest 2.0.5 update, Bungie is making more tweaks to the Destiny 2 experience. There are tons of quality of life changes coming with this update, and it’ll also make the Exotic grinding experience a little easier to swallow.

For starters, Bungie has stated that players will be less likely to get Exotic duplicates with drops and engrams, which should be good news for all players.

Exotic Duplicate Weighting
  • When a player receives an Exotic, we now take into account all Exotics the player has found and weight them against Exotics they have yet to acquire. This lowers the player’s chances of receiving Exotics they already own.
  • Exotics that the player does not yet own are individually weighted much higher than duplicate Exotics
  • When receiving duplicate Exotics, the player is more likely to earn armor pieces as these have randomly rolled perks
  • Removed quest Exotic weapons from the Exotic engram loot pool
      • Worldline Zero
      • Ace of Spades
      • Wish-Ender
      • One Thousand Voices
      • Malfeasance
      • Lord of Wolves
      • The Chaperone

In addition to that, Masterwork Cores have also been renamed to Enhancement Cores, which are used for weapon infusion. You can still get them by dismantling Masterwork weapons, but this update also allows players to get them through Spider’s bounties.

Enhancement Cores
  • Renamed Masterwork Cores to Enhancement Cores
  • Enhancement Cores are now awarded by Scrapper bounties and six of the Spider’s weekly bounties
  • Enhancement Cores will be more visible in the loot feed

Destiny 2 and the new Forsaken expansion is now available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
