How to Play With Friends in Fortnite

Recommended Videos

Fortnite is a game that’s best to play with other people but sometimes you’d much rather team up with your friends instead of running through missions with random players. Honestly, teaming up with friends is one of the best ways to play Fortnite because matchmaking doesn’t guarantee that the other players will want to cooperate with whatever plans you had in mind. When teaming up with friends you can all coordinate which character classes should be present in the game, in what order you want to handle tasks, whether or not you want to spend some time collecting crafting materials, and just have better cooperation overall based on what it is you want to accomplish within each zone.

So how do you make sure your friends can join in on the fun before random players take their spot on your team? You’ll want to start by doing the same thing you would do if you wanted to play solo. Go into the actual game settings, which can be accessed at any point throughout the game, and change the game from public to private. Once you do that random parties will no longer be added to your games. Now you can go about a few different ways to get your friends added.

Right above the public/private option you will see another option called party finder. This will pull up a list of your friends who are currently online and it will also show you if any of these friends are already playing Fortnite as well. You can send invitations from here to request your friends to join your party.

You can also add friends by actually selecting the mission you want to enter. Once inside you will see three blank spots that the game would typically fill with other players. Hover over each spot, which is also marked with a plus sign, and select it. This will bring up the same list of online friends so you can invite them to join your game.
