Pokemon GO Holiday Event: Start Date, Bonuses, and More [Update]

This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

Pokemon GO’s full holiday event plans have finally been revealed, a bit close to the wire actually. In just a couple of days, on the morning of Dec. 25, a new batch of gifts will arrive in an update. Changes will include:

Recommended Videos
  • Increased chance to hatch Togepi “and other Pokemon”
  • Players can collect a single-use Incubator with their first PokeStop spin each day
  • PokeStops will have a greater chance of awarding Eggs that will hatch recently added Pokemon (Pichu, Togepi, Elekid, Magby, Smoochum, Igglybuff, and Clefa)
  • Santa hat Pikachu will continue to exist and will be more commonly found

In addition, starting Dec. 30, the three starter Pokemon (Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur) as well as their evolutions will be more commonly around the world. And on top of that, Lure Modules will last for 60 minutes instead of the usual 30.

All of these additions will stick around until the afternoon of January 3, 2017 (PST).

Update: Niantic has added special holiday gift boxes to the event. You can check out all their details here.
