Take-Two Interactive CEO, Strauss Zelnick, recently appeared on CNBC’s Mad Money with Jim Cramer, where he insisted that Red Dead Redemption 2 is finished being delayed, and the October release date is set in stone.
Zelnick declared, “Hand on heart, it’s October 26th,” when asked about the release date. The game has been hit with several delays in the past, including as far back as Fall 2017, when the game was previously scheduled to release. However, as the release date slowly moves closer, people will have to take his word for it.
Zelnick added, “When I said ‘hand on heart,’ it’s over a thousand people at Rockstar Games with their hands on their hearts.”
Fans have been excited for the upcoming release ever since the announcement and trailer in October of 2016. Since then, the trailers have coincided with delays, with the second one announcing that the release window was Spring 2018. The third trailer, however, has seemingly finalized the release date as Oct. 26, nearly two years after the initial announcement.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is the sequel to Rockstar’s smash hit, Red Dead Redemption, which was the second game in the Red Dead franchise after Red Dead Revolver. The game was praised for its adaptation of an Old West giving way to modern law and order. To date, the first Red Dead Redemption has sold over 14 million copies, releasing on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and winning several Game of the Year awards.
There are only five more months to wait until the sequel finally releases.
