Call of Duty: WWII New Blitzkrieg Community Event Is Live Now

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Looking for something new to jump into in Call of Duty: WWII? It’s just about time for a new community event, which has just started up today. Activision has announced that its Blitzkrieg Community Event is now live, and will be up and running between today and May 8. It’s free to participate in if you own the game, and it’s carting a brand new game mode called Ground War (9 on 9 for massive ground battles) and six new weapons to play around with. If you’ve been thinking about playing around in Call of Duty recently, this might be your ticket back to regular play.

As far as new weapons go, you’ll be able to earn the Type 5, ITRA Burst, and M2 Carbine rifles, the Type 38 Sniper, the Sterling SMG, and the Baseball Bat melee weapons. Other unlockables include helmets, weapon charms, an exclusive Rose II Grease Gun variant, and more.

There’s also a new HQ map that you can play either Prop Hunt or Gun Game with, if you so desire. The HQ map is a permanent addition to the game, though, so you can play it long after this new event is over. If this all sounds like your cup of tae and you’re raring to go with some Call of Duty: WWII this weekend, the Blitzkrieg event is ready for you to start checking out right now. You can see a bit of a sneak peek in the trailer below.
