Today, Ubisoft formally unveiled its take on the battle royale space, Hyper Scape. Hyper Scape is a futuristic, sci-fi battle royale game that on the surface may appear similar to something like Apex Legends, but does have a few quirks to set it apart.

Hyper Scape takes place in a virtual city known as Neo-Arcadia which is filled with advanced weaponry and abilities known as hacks, that can be looted by players competing in the city’s battle royale competition. Hacks can allow your player to do some crazy moves such as power slam onto the ground, or morph into a ball.

What’s particularly interesting is that all weapons and hacks can be upgraded & evolved by looting duplicates of on the map. Instead of just ignoring loot you already have, the duplicates will power up and alter your weapon and hack into something better.

You can see the gameplay in action below. Hyper Scape will feature a Solo and Squad mode and up to 100 players.

Another very neat twist featured in Hyper Scape is that death isn’t the end of your character. If you die while your team is still alive, you turn into what is called an “echo” and are able to move around the map and scout for your still alive teammates.

When a player from an enemy team dies, a restore point will appear and will allow you to revive an echo from your team.

Also, Twitch viewers will be able to vote on something called “Battle Events” which alter the game such as activating low gravity or infinite ammo.

Finally, when a game of Hyper Scape nears the end game, a Showdown phase will begin. A crown will appear and players can win the game by either eliminating the rest of the enemy players or by holding onto the crown for 45 seconds without dying.

Hyper Scape is pulling a page out of Valorant’s book and is allowing Twitch viewers to win a chance to join the Technical Test via Twitch drops for accounts that watch for at least 20 minutes on Twitch with a linked Ubisoft account. Here’s how to link it if you’re not sure. Not all players in all regions are eligible, you can read the full details here.

Hyper Scape so far is confirmed to be releasing on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
