Family Builds Video Rental Store in Their Basement; Is Now Living Every 90s Kid’s Dream

In a series of TikToks that have recently gone viral, a woman takes us through a tour of a video rental store… that is now located in their house.

Her husband, using newly found free time afforded to them by the pandemic, created an absolutely wicked video rental store in the basement of their house to replace the one that had recently gone out of business in their town.

If you’re under the age of 15, or… maybe even 20, you may not fully appreciate the majesty that was a well-stocked video rental store.

You couldn’t just instantly stream whatever you want in seconds from the internet, you had to hoof it over to a physical location and browse what was available.

And, because you invested all that time getting over there and looking around for something to rent, bringing the movie back was often a big event complete with popcorn and comfy clothes. It’s a long lost art these days.

Well, not in this home. They can relive the experience any time they want. Many shelves are filled with DVDs and VHSs, and even retro video games. There’s a viewing room complete with very comfortable looking recliner chair, and memorabilia is sprinkled throughout to set the mood. I can smell the Dots and Sour Patch Kids from here.

I know I’m not the only one that wants to get to work copying them in their own home, so I wish you luck in advance.
