Media Create released its weekly hardware and software charts related to the Japanese market between Jan. 14 and Jan. 20. Last week saw the release of quite a few games, so the charts are quite interesting.

Below you can check out the hardware chart for the same period:

  1. Switch: 71,139
  2. PS4: 9,505
  3. PS4 Pro: 6,958
  4. New 2DS XL: 3,767
  5. PS Vita: 1,755
  6. New 3DS XL: 1,514
  7. 2DS: 158
  8. Xbox One X: 94
  9. Xbox One: 24

On the hardware side, while most platforms were affected by the usual post-holiday slump, the Switch keeps going quite strong, which is quite interesting.

On the software side, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown makes a triumphant entrance with over 200,000 copies sold, which is very good for this kind of semi-niche game. Looks like Japanese fans were hungry for a return to Strangereal.

On the other hand, Yakuza 4 made a mediocre debut on the Media Create charts, but that’s normal since Japanese gamers aren’t keen on HD remasters that add very little or nothing at all to a game, unless they belong to massive franchises.

Interestingly, Dragon Quest Builders 2 seems to be doing slightly better on Nintendo Switch than on PS4, and Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition shows the opposite performance.
