Preox-Morlana Corporate Zone in Andor Explained

The reason that there isn’t direct Imperial involvement in the events of the first few Andor episodes is that the show takes place in the Corporate Sector: a large area of the Galaxy where companies are in charge. This area has been a part of Star Wars since 1979 as the setting for the Han Solo trilogy–three books written by A.C. Crispin in the time period before A New Hope that became Legends content after Disney bought Lucasfilm. The Empire gives companies a lot of freedom to make money in exchange for freeing up its resources.

The Preox-Morlana Corporate Zone is a small piece of the Corporate Sector. Both Ferrix and Morlana One fall within the corporate zone, which becomes a big problem for Cassian Andor when law enforcement pursues him. The Empire requires the Preox-Morlana corporation to meet certain governing standards, as evidenced by the Chief Inspector’s trip to report on the crime rate.
