Is There Splitscreen Co-Op Multiplayer in Sea of Thieves?

Recommended Videos

Sea of Thieves is the open world pirate game developed by Rare. The game is set to launch on March 20 and will see players teaming up to collect treasure, shoot cannons and sail the open seas. The game has a heavy emphasis on multiplayer, with quests and activities designed to be played with a group of friends. Simple actions, like viewing a map, require other players to hold and show it to you, making treasure hunts a team-effort. Currently, there is no splitscreen co-op multiplayer mode, with online multiplayer being the only way to play with friends.

Sea of Thieves features a huge world filled with islands, ports, and a huge ocean. It takes three players to steer a ship, with one driving, one navigating using the map, and one using the crow’s nest to look out for dangerous objects in the ocean. Given that others are likely to be teaming up too, it is advised that you do the same.

The game is being published by Microsoft and allows players to live out their wackiest pirate fantasies. You can shoot players out of cannons, sing sea shanties, and get drunk on grog. Much of the game’s content is still a mystery, with very little known about late-game content and rewards. The ultimate goal though is clear, become a pirate legend, a feat achieved by gaining reputation with the game’s three factions.

That’s all you need to know about whether or not Sea of Thieves has splitscreen co-op multiplayer. For more on why you should check out Sea of Thieves, click here, or check out our ever-expanding wiki.
