I main bruisers in almost every MOBA I play, including Predecessor, and just so it happens that they are kind of OP right now. If you’re wondering what else is meta in the current patch, check out our Predecessor tier list just below.

Predecessor Heroes Tier List

S Tier Predecessor Heroes

  • Khaimera — Khaimera is one of the easiest junglers to play, and she is pretty overturned right now. The cleanse on E is a get-out-of-jail-free card, and the 10-second CD leap is plain broken. If you want to try out jungle, just pick Khaimera.
  • Sparrow — On-hit is OP right now, and the high attack speed Sparrow benefits hugely because of that. If you are a carry main and don’t play her or Grim, then you won’t be climbing this patch.
  • Aurora — Aurora has the most broken CC kit in Predecessor right now. The only losing matchup she has is Grux, who hard counters her both in the jungle and on offlane.
  • Zinx — Zinx is one of the most OP supports in the game. She can revive, and her CC, damage, and buffs are all really good. However, she isn’t as easy to play as other supports, requiring very aggressive positioning in the lane.
  • The Fey — Good Fey players can easily solo-carry games. All of her skills have high base damage, and her ultimate is broken for team fights. Don’t play her on offlane as you can be ganked easily.
  • Countess — Countess is my main, and she is really strong on mid right now. She can work in jungle as well, but only against non-invading junglers.
  • Murdock — Murdock might seem beginner-friendly, but constantly managing his passive isn’t something an average player can do throughout the lane. Still, he is the second-strongest carry this patch, right after Sparrow.

A Tier Predecessor Heroes

  • Grux — Grux is really good for both jungle and offlane. He has very few losing matchups, and his kit is easy to learn.
  • Morigesh — Morigesh is extremely easy to play, and her damage and utility are simply too good. You have sustain on E, slow on Q, and a low CD high-damage RMB.
  • Steel — Steel works as a support, offlaner, and a jungle. He has a lot of CC and great survivability. Plus, his Force Shield is one of the best tools for countering carries in the game.
  • Greystone — Greystone is the most default and one of the easiest champs in Predecessor. He doesn’t lose hard against Grux, making him a solid pick when you have no idea what else to play.
  • Drongo — Drongo is a bit more balanced version of Sparrow. He works best into tanky comps because of his DoT passive.
  • Shinbi — If you’ve played DotA and have PTSD from playing against good Phantom Lancers, then you’ll love Shinbi. She can win lane without ever interacting with her lane opponent, and her late-game team fighting is also nice.
  • Gideon — Gideon got nerfed, but it wasn’t nearly enough. He still outranges most other mid picks and landing his combo is super easy.
  • Argus — Argus has received numerous buffs in the recent patches, and he finally seems playable. He is one of the biggest counters to Morigesh on mid, and he is also a solid pick on support.

B Tier Predecessor Heroes

  • Kira — On-hit effects are broken, and Kira has just that. However, she doesn’t perform as well as other carries due to her long cooldowns and overreliance on basic attacks.
  • Riktor — Riktor hard counters immobile carries and supports. However, enemies that position well and tank supports in general counter him.
  • Iggy & Scorch — If you are good with Iggy and know how to place turrets properly, losing lane is basically impossible. Moreover, he scales really well. The only issue is that becoming good with him takes a fair bit of practice.
  • Gadget — Gadget counters assassins but loses hard against mages that outrange him. He is definitely not a hero you can spam every game.
  • Serath — Serath has great mobility and damage and is one of the few champs who can beat Grux in the jungle. However, you need to play defensively with her and kite. If you mess that up and give him a lead, you’re doomed.
  • Phase — Phase’s ult is just too OP for attack speed-stacking champions. Plus, she is a real bully in lane. However, Zinx is just straight-up better at the moment.
  • Narbash — Narbash is so so beginner-friendly. He has CC, heals, and provides movement speed boosts to his allies. All of those are necessary if you want to keep immobile carries like Sparrow safe.
  • Dekker — Stonewalling enemies is what Dekker does best. He can protect the carry with his CC is also OP for securing objectives. However, he requires a lot of skill.
  • TwinBlast — TwinBlast is basically Lucian from LoL. He has high mobility and damage, but enemies can easily punish you if you missplay. I wouldn’t recommend you use him in ranked unless you have at least 100 games on him.
  • Crunch — Crunch can match Grux in the offlane because he is simply too beefy. However, I think his best role right now might be support, especially if you are lacking a frontline.

C Tier Predecessor Heroes

  • Muriel — Muriel provides shields, and she even grants attack speed with her RMB, which is basically everything that the meta carries need. However, other supports outperform her right now.
  • Feng Mao — Feng Mao is best in the jungle and not on offlane. His mobility allows him to clear faster, and it’s also great for ganks. However, his damage is lackluster.
  • Terra — Terra is basically Olaf from LoL, though she has much less sustain. She can hold her ground both in jungle and in offlane. However, Grux is just so much better at the moment.
  • Kwang — Kwang received a lot of buffs in recent patches, but he is still a niche pick for jungle and offlane. If you can utilize his mobility correctly, he can be a pretty solid pick.
  • Zarus — The recent nerfs did hurt him, but Zarus is still a solid pick for offlane, mostly because of his strong early game. You can also play him in the jungle if you prefer.
  • Rampage — Rampage’s skills confine him to the jungle, and he isn’t even that great there. The only thing he can do is tank.
  • Revenant — Revenant did receive some buffs and is a viable pick. However, compared to Sparrow, Murdock, and Drongo, he is really bad.

D Tier Predecessor Heroes

  • Sevarog — Sevarog is by far the worst offlaner right now. His damage is low, and his survivability is questionable. You’re better off playing Grux, really.
  • Howitzer — Howitzer is a long-range bully on mid, and some people even play him in the offlane. However, if you know how to trade properly and play around his cooldowns, you can absolutely body him.
  • Lt. Belica — Because Belica’s ulti relies on enemies missing flat mana and not % mana, it is basically useless until late game. However, if you can reliably scale and get there, she can be a solid pick.
  • Kallari — Kallari can be good, but she requires a lot of skill that the average player simply doesn’t have. That’s why she is basically at a 40% win rate now.
  • Wraith — Wraith can be A or S tier, but the skill floor for this champ is simply too high. You need to hit your snipes, and most people who aren’t experienced in FPS games aren’t capable of that.
  • Grim.exe — Grim used to be really good, but recent nerfs have destroyed him. If someone picks him on your team, dodge.

Do note that this is a general tier list, and considering how new Predecessor is and that most players are still learning all the different mechanics, easier champs seem to perform slightly better. Still, if you’re a one-trick, you should be able to make even the lowest-tier characters work.

Which Role Should You Main in the Predecessor?

Before you can pick a hero to main from the tier list above, you’ll first need to choose which role you wanna play in Predecessor. If you exclude the 3rd person perspective, you’ll find this game very similar to Dota 2 and LoL. Still, that extra layer of gameplay significantly affects the difficulty of each hero, and the same is true for roles. So, if you’re unsure of which one you should main, here is a quick rundown of them all.

Offlane

This is top in LoL terms. You’ll be on an island where you’ll fight the enemy offlaner and potentially jungler/support/midlaner, depending on their map movements. Heroes for this role are mostly tanks and bruisers, so you’ll be expected to be your team’s frontline/peel.

Jungle

As a jungle you’ll spend the biggest part of the game clearing camps. However, your help is crucial if you want your teammates to win their lanes, so ganking is also a must. This role requires the most game knowledge, and most of the top champs on the tier list are hard to play, so if you’re just starting out Predecessor, it might not be the best fit.

Midlane

Midlaners have similar responsibilities as junglers, which are ganking, rotating, etc. However, they also have to care about winning their own lane. This is the role that probably gets the most action in the game and has the largest hero pool. Plus, this kind of intensity is very good if you want to learn the game quickly.

Carry

You’ll notice that most of the best heroes on the tier list are carries, and that’s because it’s the lowest skill floor role in Predecessor. Your main focus is farming and getting as much gold as you can in the early game to scale. In team fights, you’ll be your team’s main damage dealer, and staying out of enemies’ range is crucial if you want to keep up the DPS.

Support

Support also has a low skill floor but a very high ceiling. It’s one of the roles that, together with jungle, will be gapped the most, and that’s mostly due to the player’s macro. If you want to play this role effectively, you have to support everyone on your team, not just the carry.

That does it for our Predecessor tier list. If you’re wondering what the best characters are in some other video games, do check out the rest of the articles we have on Twinfinite. We’ve even got tier lists for mobile gachas like Solo Leveling Arise and Monster Never Cry.
