How to Invite Friends to Raid Battles

Thanks to the recent update, trainers who have reached level 32 (that will likely be lower by the time you read this) or higher will now have the ability to invite up to five friends to a single raid. Those friends need to use Remote Raid Passes to join and you need to be physically at the gym in order to invite them.

That means you can’t just join a raid that’s nearby using a Remote Raid Pass and then invite some friends. But once you get there, fortunately, there’s no cost or item associated with inviting friends to raids. Once you reach the gym, just enter the raid as you normally would.

From there, you should see the regular raid screen with one new addition off to the right side. That new button (see below) is what you’re going to use to add friends to raid battles.

Once you tap that button, your friends list will pop up on the screen with radio buttons next to reach one. You can select up to five friends to join the raid, then tap the button at the bottom of the screen that says Invite X Friends (X = the number of friends selected).

If your friend has notifications turned on for Pokemon GO, then they’ll get an alert about the invitation. If you’re on the receiving end of an invite, then just tap on it to launch the game. You can also join the raid from the nearby raids screen if you’re already playing Pokemon GO.

Time needed: 1 minute

Here’s a quick summary on how to invite friends to raid battles in Pokemon GO:

  1. Find a nearby raid

You’ll need to physically be there in order to invite friends. You can’t invite anyone if you’re accessing the raid via a Remote Raid Pass.

  2. Enter the raid

Use a raid pass to enter the raid and this will create the raid lobby.

  3. Add friends

On the right side of the screen you’ll see a green button with a white add friends icon on it. Tap that to pull up your friends list and select your invitees. You can invite up to five friends at a time.

That’s all there is to inviting friends to raid battles in Pokemon GO. If you want to learn about anything else in Pokemon GO, then just check out our Guide Wiki for tons of useful information.
