How to Change Clothes Color – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Recommended Videos

Unlike most Zelda games, Breath of the Wild lets you equip a wide array of clothing and armor, not just Link’s tunic and a few others. You’ll find various pieces of equipment and clothing while playing Breath of the Wild, and might be wondering if you can customize any of it. Luckily, the answer is yes, you can dye clothes and change their color. However, you’ll first need to find a dye shop in order to so.

There are multiple locations for dye shops in Breath of the Wild, but the first is Hateno Village, which is on the very far East area of the world map. Head that direction and find Dueling Peaks Stables. From there continue on the road North until you hit a fork, then follow that East. Eventually you’ll hit Hateno Village, and the dye shop can be found just about in the middle of the village, it has giant colored vials on its sign so it’s hard to miss. Here are all the colors you can dye your items in the game.

  • Black
  • Blue
  • Brown
  • Crimson Red
  • Gray
  • Green
  • Light Blue
  • Light Yellow
  • Navy Blue
  • Orange
  • Peach
  • Purple
  • Red
  • White
  • Yellow

Now the trick is, inside the dye shop you’ll also need material and rupees to change your clothing color. Each dye will cost 20 rupees, and for materials you simply need items of the same color in your inventory, as whichever color you want to use. This means if you want to dye a piece of clothing red in Breath of the Wild, you’ll need five red items, like red mushrooms, in your inventory. If you decide you don’t like your current clothing option, you can head to the dye shop and reverse any color changes you implemented for another 20 rupees. Just keep in mind, you won’t get back those five items that you used originally.

That’s all you need to know to dye your clothes and change their color. Make sure to experiment with color and see whichever outfit you like best. For more tips, help, and guides on Breath of the Wild, make sure to check in on our Wiki.
