Genshin Impact: How to Get Barbara

Genshin Impact is a free-to-play open-world RPG from MiHoYo, the developer best known for releasing the mobile gacha game Honkai Impact 3rd. Its latest RPG takes quite a few cues from Breath of the Wild but also features plenty of unique little systems and mechanics, including a fun synergy-based combat system that requires you to make use of your party’s skills effectively. Here’s how to get Barbara in Genshin Impact.

Getting Barbara in Genshin Impact

First things first, it is indeed possible to get Barbara for free in Genshin Impact, but with one caveat. You need to have created your account before the release of patch 1.1, which went live back in November 2020. As long as your account was created before the patch, once you’ve hit Adventure Rank 18 and completed the story quest titled A Long Shot, which pits you against the dragon Dvalin, Paimon will send you Barbara for free in the mail.

If you’ve hit the requirements and she hasn’t shown up, try reloading your game and log back in to reload your mail. It doesn’t matter how long you take to reach Adventure Rank 18 as long as your account was created before the patch went live.

However, if you did miss the cutoff date and got into the game later than that, you’re still not entirely out of luck. You’ll just have to rely on RNG and the wish system if you still want to get Barbara.

At the time of writing, the only way to get Barbara is to simply use your Primogems and try pulling for her with wishes. She’s a four-star Hydro character, which means that it should be a lot easier for you to get her than with the other characters.

Since you’re guaranteed to get a four-star item or character with every 10 wishes, your chances of getting Barbara are actually pretty decent if you have enough Primogems to spare. Alternatively, you can wait for Paimon’s Bargains to refresh every month, as there will be two random four-star characters you can purchase with Stardust. If Barbara happens to show up during the next refresh, and you have enough Stardust, you can get her that way instead.

That’s all you need to know about how to get Barbara in Genshin Impact. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
