Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: WWII Nazi Zombies makes some big changes to the popular game mode, and you’ll need to learn a few new things in order to survive against the undead. Aside from adding a hint system for the game’s Easter egg and removing the ability to board doors and, CoD WW2 Zombies introduces classes and special abilities. There are also plenty of jump scares that affect the flow of the game.

While this guide is based mainly on The Final Reich map, you can likely apply these tips and tricks to the other maps that will be added in the future. So, how can you survive long in CoD WW2 Zombies? Let’s start first with the most important thing to do before you start a match: choosing your loadout.

Aside from being able to choose your starting weapon and equipping modifications for your firearms, you can choose and customize your character loadout. There are a total of four special abilities in CoD WW2 Zombies: Camouflage, Control, Freefire, and Shellshock. Once you reach level 5, you can choose which special ability and mod abilities to carry with you.

Don’t be misled that the mod abilities in the preset loadouts are tied to specific classes. The only exclusive perks in CoD WW2 Zombies are those that enhance your specific special ability. Mods such as Preventative Medicine and Dutiful Medic, which lengthens the bleedout time for the whole party and prevents you from taking damage from one hit while reviving a teammate, respectively, are part of universal mods. You can unlock more mod abilities by purchasing them in the Raven Research with Raven Credits, a currency you can acquire by leveling up.

The best class entirely depends on your agenda and team composition in CoD WW2 Zombies. For example, if want to play the support role, you can equip the Shellshock special ability alongside the Protector mod to give all teammates one armor. Add the Defibrilllate mod in your mod slots to revive fallen teammates within a certain range whenever you use Shellshock.

If you’re aiming to finish the game mode’s casual path Easter Egg alone, one of the best special abilities to equip is Camouflage. Using this special ability makes you go unnoticed by all zombies, so you can use it as a panic button when you find yourself in a corner surrounded by enemies. The Camouflage ability also helps greatly during one mundane task in the casual path. At one point, you will have to carry a battery from one far location to another, and you can’t shoot and run fast while carrying the battery.

Don’t Lose Your Blitz!

When you die in CoD WW2 Zombies, you lose all your weapons and equipped Blitz. While you can reacquire all your weapons for a small price, you’ll have to repurchase all the Blitz you lost. Aside from this, you can also lose your Blitz while you’re in a downed state. When you’re knocked down, all your Blitz will be marked at certain points of the bleeding meter. If your teammate fails to revive you before the meter reaches a certain Blitz, you’ll lose that perk and have to repurchase it. Because of this, make sure that you always stick near your teammates so they can revive you quickly. You can also use Self-Revives when you get downed to prevent losing your hard-earned Blitz.

You can equip a total of four Blitz per match, and you can increase it to five if you have the Hoarder universal mod equipped. Below benefits and locations of all Blitz in The Final Reich map:

• Lebenblitz (500 Jolts): Revives you automatically when playing solo. In co-op, it increases the speed for reviving allies. This can be found at the Village Entrance or the area where you spawn in the 1^st round.
• Laufenblitz (2,000 Jolts): Increases your sprint speed and enables you to run indefinitely. This can be found in the sewers or specifically near the area where you jump down after using the pilot light.
• Faustblitz (2,000 Jolts): Increases your melee damage. This is found in the command room near the table where you craft the Tesla Gun.
• Schnellblitz (3,000 Jolts): Increases your reload speed. This is found in the Laboratory.
• Schildblitz (2,000 Jolts): Gives you a damaging burst of electricity whenever you reload your weapon. This Blitz is found in the Laboraty.
• Kugelblitz (2,000): Increases the damage for all your weapons. This is found in the Pub or the area near the Tower.

Don’t Bother Killing the Brute

There’s one zombie type that will make your life harder in The Final Reich. The brute zombie, or the enemy that walks slowly and rams you when shot at, deals a huge amount of damage and has a stupendously large amount of health. However, you don’t need to kill it in order to progress the wave. Best of all, it walks at a snail’s pace, which means you don’t have to bother killing it unless it’s blocking  your way.

If you’re having trouble with this zombie type, simply use a trap to eliminate it instantly.

Get the Best Weapons

Getting strong weapons is crucial to your survival. Aside from purchasing select weapons scattered throughout the map, you can also upgrade non-special weapons for 5,000 Jolts via the Pack-a-Punch machine. To unlock the Pack-a-Punch in The Final Reich, simply ride down the sewer pipes in the Tower, Command Room, and the laboratory. Once that’s done, you can now use the Pack-a-Punch machine. Take note that the cost for ammo reloads will be far more expensive once it’s upgraded.

Getting the Tesla Gun also makes your life easier in The Final Reich. This gun can instantly kill multiple normal zombies in the early rounds. It can also stun all enemies it hits, except for the flamethrower-wielding zombie and the final boss. You can also upgrade the Tesla Gun to four different types by following a few intricate steps.

Don’t rely too much on armor

A normal zombie will knock down your character with four hits. With an armor or Geistschild equipped, you can take a total of three fatal hits before you get downed. Sounds great, right? Best of all, the starting cost of armor is 500 Jolts. However, you shouldn’t rely on your armor too much.

The cost of armor increases in small increments each time you purchase one. From 500 Jolts, the price increases to 1,000, then 1,500 and so on. By the time you reach the armor price cap of 10,000 Jolts, you’ll likely have run out of money to purchase ammo, weapons, and upgrades.
