CoD: Infinite Warfare Multiplayer – All Combat Rigs and What They Do

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare introduces something a little different to the standard multiplayer formula of the franchise. Combat Rigs are essentially a foundation for you to further build your loadout on. Each Combat Rig has been designed with a distinct play style in mind and has some special weapons and abilities in the form of Payloads and Traits that play into this.

Battlefield 1

There are a total of six different Combat Rigs on offer in Infinite Warfare and finding the right one for you can sometimes be a little confusing. Here are all of the Combat Rigs in Infinite Warfare with their Payloads and Traits.

Merc

The Merc is the Combat Rig for anyone who opts for defense and heavy suppressive fire. With a set of Payloads and Traits that perfectly accommodate for the player who wants to be on the move and in the action at all times, the Merc can is not only capable of regenerating health faster, but also armed with some impressive AoE weapons.

Payloads and Traits are as follows:

Payloads

  • Steel Dragon – Heavy beam-based weapon with multi-target tracking. A hip fire weapon that shoots a concentrated beam against multiple enemies and burns them. Perfect for suppressing groups of enemies.
  • Bull Charge – Equips the user with an armored riot shield to smash your way through enemy ranks. Can also be used for additional attack power when using melee.
  • Reactive Armor – High-voltage armor capable of vaporizing any incoming small arms fire.

Traits

  • Infusion – Regenerates health faster.
  • Man-At-Arms – Start with max ammo and weapons don’t impact movement.
  • Shock Wave – Press a button in mid-air to activate a devastating slam.

FTL

Described as the “evolution in covert guerrilla ops,” FTL is equipped with high-tech weaponry. Its Eraser payload has an energy handgun that incinerates enemies when fire. Combined with the Power Slide trait allowing for further and faster sliding, this is a deadly and speedy Combat Rig.

Payloads and Traits are as follows:

Payloads

  • Eraser – Compact experimental energy-based handgun that evaporates enemies.
  • FTL Jump – Localized FTL burst that lets the user rapidly dash into the action or out of danger.
  • Phase Shift – Displaces the user into another dimension, avoiding damage. Though other phased players can damage you.

Traits

  • Supercharge – Killing enemies will drop cooldown packs that help your team boost their super meters.
  • Perception – Offers additional situational awareness, alerts players if someone is looking at them from off-screen.
  • Powerslide – Enhanced sliding capability that increases speed, distance, and allows you to aim down sights.

Stryker

If you prefer to play a support-style role for your teammates, then you’ll want to ensure you pick the Stryker class when it unlocks at level 31. It comes armed with a number of different weapons to push the enemy back and stifle their attacks.

Payloads and Traits are as follows:

Payloads

  • Gravity Vortex – Prototype launcher that fires a slow-moving projectile which distorts gravity, pulling in and damaging enemies.
  • Micro Turret – Compact multi-surface deployable turret. Perfect for pushing back enemy offenses.
  • Centurion – Destroys enemy projectiles and applies a powerful electromagnetic field.

Traits

  • Relay – Alerts the user when enemy targets are in sight.
  • Trophy Drone – Flies with the player and can self-detonate to stop incoming grenade damage.
  • Hardened – Placed equipment and drones have increased health and will not be destroyed once the user has died.

Warfighter

The all-round Combat Rig perfect for players who find themselves getting involved in just about every possible combat scenario. To assist in this role, the Warfighter has a Claw payload which allows for a spreadshot of ricochet ballistic rounds that grants players the ability to catch their opponents from around corners.

Payloads and Traits are as follows:

Payloads

  • Claw – Rapid fire spread-shot firearm with ricochet ballistic rounds. Aim down sights for more focused damage.
  • Overdrive – Grants a temporary speed surge.
  • Combat Focus – Gain double streak points for a limited time.

Traits

  • Ping – Kills and assists activate a minimap ping at the enemy’s location.
  • Persistence – Disables the reset of scorestreaks on death while making scorestreaks cost increasingly more points. You can only earn each of your scorestreaks once per match.
  • Resupply – Resupply lethals and tacticals by picking up ammo boxes after successful kills with non-explosive ballistic or energy weapons.

Phantom

If you often find yourself as the team sniper in Call of Duty games, then Infinite Warfare’s Phantom Combat Rig has you covered. It specializes in concealment and long-range sniper combat with its Active Camo making you almost invisible, and a Ballista EM3 capable of pinning enemies to the wall.

Payloads and Traits are as follows:

Payloads

  • Ballista EM3 – Highly accurate electromagnetic projectile launcher with increased penetration capability.
  • Active Camo – Renders you almost invisible.
  • Pulsar – Advanced EM sensor allows you to visualize enemy positions.

Traits

  • Marked Target – Damaging enemies will mark them for death, preventing health regeneration for five seconds. Marked enemies killed by teammates will reward you with additional score.
  • Rearguard – Spawn in with a back shield that protects against enemies attacking from behind. Melee attacks from anywhere but the front are negated.
  • Heightened Senses – While aiming down sights with sniper rifles, you’ll gain increased audio from nearby enemies. Warning blips will sound if an enemy is nearby.

Synaptic

The Synaptic class will have you assuming control of a C6 remote-operated robot. Built for speed and close quarters combat in mind, the Synaptic class’ Equalizer payload allows the player to dual wield machine guns with built-in suppressors. There’s also the Propulsion traits allowing for fast dashes in any horizontal direction to avoid incoming fire.

Payloads and Traits are as follows:

Payloads

  • Equalizer – Dual integrated machine guns with built-in suppressors.
  • Rewind – Rewinds your position and replenishes health and ammunition
  • Reaper – Switch to rapid melee combat mode.

Traits

  • Rushdown – Execute a quick move in any direction by pressing L3.
  • Propulsion – Improved thrusters allow energy to recover faster and also damage enemy players below.
  • Combat Burst – After each kill, gain a brief boost to movement speed.
