Xbox One X

While the original Xbox One and Xbox One S run games completely fine, the Xbox One X packs in extra power into a smaller form factor. It’s capable of running games in a stunning native 4K resolution and can make use of HDR just like the One S. Further, it has a UHD Blu-Ray drive, and a 1TB hard drive to boot. If your loved one spends a lot of time playing and doesn’t yet have an Xbox One X, this might be the perfect gift if you’re looking to spend a fair bit.

Xbox Live

A considerably cheaper gift, but one that’s likely to be just as appreciated. An Xbox Live subscription will keep your loved one playing their favorite games online for as long as you have the subscription running for. Plus, they’ll get discounts on games in the online store, and even free games to download each month. You can either purchase this as a timed subscription of 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months, or you could set up a continuous direct debit for a monthly fee so they never have to worry about it again.

Forza Horizon 4

There aren’t a whole bunch of racing games out there anymore, but Forza Horizon 4 is most certainly the very best title you can get your hands on right now. The game looks absolutely breathtaking as players speed their way around developer Turn10’s rendition of the United Kingdom. There are hundreds of cars on offer, a plethora of different events to take part in, and other players will be whizzing by you as you play. Not to mention the extensive customization and tuning features available. If you’re looking for an Xbox One gift for a racing fan, look no further than Forza Horizon 4.

Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass actually offers some insane value, so while it won’t cost you an absolute ton to purchase, it’ll give your loved one an absolutely massive library of games to play. This is basically the video game version of Netflix. Browse through over 100 different Xbox 360 and Xbox One games, download whichever ones you want, and play them for as long as you like. Plus, it starts from as little as $9.99 a month and includes games like the aforementioned Forza Horizon 4, the zombie survival title, State of Decay 2, and 2018’s swashbuckling adventure Sea of Thieves, to mention just a few.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the finest games to hit the Xbox One in 2018. From developer behind the Grand Theft Auto and Bully series comes a game set in the wild west, telling the tale of the Van der Linde gang as they escape from law enforcement and bounty hunters. The world is enormous and packed with things to do. Want to go pass hours playing poker in a saloon? You can. How about going out hunting legendary animals in the wild? Yeah, you can do that, too. This is a living, breathing world with so many opportunities and an absolute must-try for all Xbox One players.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

While the Assassin’s Creed series has had some low points over the last few entries, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey feels like a real return to form for Ubisoft’s open-world action series. Following on from the refinements and improvements made in 2017’s Origins, Odyssey takes players to Ancient Greece to take part in the Peloponnesian War. You’ll take to the seas, face off against mythical creatures, and of course, take down targets in whichever way you see fit. An open world game that’ll keep your loved one glued to their Xbox One for hours at a time.

Turtle Beach Stealth 600

If your gift recipient is someone who tends to play a lot of games online, do some enquiring to see whether or not they’ve got a good headset. The one that comes in the box with the Xbox One is fine for general communication, but that’s about it. The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 may cost a fair whack, but offers wireless surround sound high-quality audio. It even has a Superhuman Hearing mode which enhances your ability to hear footsteps or weapon reloads from nearby enemies, giving them the upper hand. Plus, it doesn’t break the bank quite as much as some other high-end headsets on the market.

Xbox Design Lab Controller

While you could opt to buy your loved one an Xbox Elite controller, Xbox Design Lab grants you the ability to personalize your gift to suit their tastes. Pick from a range of colors, and customize different sections of the controller however you wish. You can even get custom engraving on it, too, perfect for giving it that special touch.

Play and Charge Kit

The average Xbox One player probably goes through a small fortune each year on buying new batteries for their controller. So why not save them a ton of cash and get them a convenient gift this holiday instead? The Play and Charge kit allows them to play for over 10 hours on a single charge, and then simply plug the controller into their console to recharge and continue playing while doing so. It’s essentially a rechargeable battery pack, but it’s an accessory we’ll always recommend to those Xbox One owners who don’t yet have one.

External Hard Drive

Video games take up a ton of storage space now. Not in terms of the boxes on the shelf, but in terms of the amount of space they take up on the Xbox One hard drive. Games like Red Dead Redemption 2 can weigh up to 90 GB, and on some Xbox One’s with a 500 GB hard drive, it can make having all your other favorite games installed at the same time a nuisance. An external hard drive allows players to install their games straight onto the drive and play them off it, too. This Seagate 2TB drive will do the job perfectly and is even officially licensed to work with the Xbox One, too. Game on!

Xbox Store Credit

There’s an increasing amount of video games that only hit the Xbox One’s online store, now. You can either pay for them with your credit card, or purchase store credit vouchers instead. While a string of numbers and letters on a receipt might not look like an exciting present, any Xbox One player is sure to appreciate it. They’ll be able to download more games, additional content for their favorite titles they’re currently playing, and even download TV shows and movies, too.

Tales from the Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves was one of the Xbox One’s big exclusives for 2018, and while it may not have delivered on all of fans’ expectations, it’s still accrued a loyal following. This Xbox One gift idea is for the Sea of Thieves fan in your life. Tales from the Sea of Thieves tells stories of the world, accompanied by sketches, diagrams, and little sea shanties, all narrated by three different pirate captains. It’s a fun dive into the lore of the game in a comical and interesting format. Or, if apparel is more their thing, you can always pick them up a Sea of Thieves t-shirt or Christmas jumper, too.

Replica Boltok

Gears of War 5 might still be in development, but that doesn’t mean we can’t include an awesome 3D printed replica Boltok Pistol from the series now, does it? Up for sale on Etsy by user LadyIfrit3D, this Boltok Pistol comes in at 11.8 inches in length, 6.7 inches tall, and 2 inches wide. It’s got a ton of positive reviews on the page, and they’d look incredible as part of a collection of video game merchandise and figures.

A 4K TV or Monitor

This one’s another option for those looking to really splash out on their Xbox One-playing loved one this holiday season. While a shiny Xbox One will always deliver great visuals, a lot of what it can do will depend on the TV you’ve got. An Xbox One X, for example, won’t be able to truly be appreciated unless you’ve got a 4K TV or monitor to make use of it. With Black Friday coming up, you’re sure to be able to find some great deals on 4K monitors and TV sets, so if they’re still using an older set, this holiday season might be the perfect time to truly treat them.

Other 2018 Hit Games

We haven’t listed all of these individually, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a ton of other great games your loved one might have missed out on because of money constraints or just not having the time to play them all. The likes of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Battlefield V, FIFA 19, Madden 19, and a whole bunch more have released and may even be reduced during Black Friday sales. If they’ve not yet got these in their library of games, these are definitely going to be winners.
