What better way to play than with a friend, after all? If you’re keen on sharing the fun, here are all of the upcoming couch co-op games coming to the Switch this 2019. Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes follows Travis Touchdown on yet another insane adventure. This time around, he’s been sucked into a mysterious video game console, where he and Badman must fight through various game levels. You can share the fun with a friend by playing couch co-op and splitting the Joy-Cons, with one person taking the role of Travis while the other plays as Badman.

New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe

The classic Wii U Mario game is back on the Nintendo Switch, letting fans enjoy all the classic platforming action. As an updated port, players can expect a few surprises, including some interesting new playable characters. Thanks to the Switch’s Joy-Con, you can play couch co-op at any time by handing over the controller. There are also a few other challenges you can play together, such as time trials and coin battles.

Wargroove

Wargroove is Chucklefish’s upcoming strategy game that has you commanding armies in combat. The strategic, turn-based battles are all about dominating your opponent through wits and sheer willpower. Wargroove is easy to pick up, making it perfect four couch co-op play. You and up to three other friends can battle each by passing on a controller or even the Switch per turn.

Shovel Knight Showdown

Shovel Knight Showdown is a fierce fight between you and your friends. This game comes with three different modes, from cash collecting to last man standing, that’s all about dominating the competition. There are 16 playable characters all coming from the Shovel Knight series, such as the titular knight himself and even Specter Knight. Up to four players can duke it out in couch co-op player once the game launches.

Yoshi’s Crafted World

Yoshi’s latest adventure is on the Nintendo Switch, where he’ll be exploring a new world crafted out of literal scraps. This side-scrolling platformer game comes with a unique feature that allows players to swap perspectives and see behind objects. This opens up a new view and other paths you might not have normally seen. This couch co-op game also supports the Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons, letting you split the controller for some two-player fun.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order

Marvel Ultimate Alliance is finally coming back with a brand new installment exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. The Black Order lets fans create their own superhero dream team and duke it out on the battlefield with a series of flashy moves and combos. This action-packed adventure also a completely new storyline you can follow revolving around Thanos’s all-too-familiar quest to collect the Infinity Stones. While you can play the game alone, you can also share the controller for some couch co-op play with a friend.

Catastronauts

The creators of Overcooked have managed to whip up yet another hectic couch co-op experience on the Nintendo Switch. Instead of the kitchen, players will be flying up to space and taking control of a space fleet in Catastronauts. You and up to three other friends will have to keep the base safe while kicking some serious butt in the process. That said, you’ll have to split up some crazy tasks, such as putting out fires, repairing control systems, and firing space canons. It’s all in a day’s work for budding space adventurers.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled

It’s been a long time coming, but Crash Team Racing is finally making a comeback. This intense racing game is a revamped version of the classic, featuring better graphics, polished stages, and both online and local play. Four-player couch co-op is also making a comeback, so you can rip the road with your friends. Racing fans definitely won’t want to miss out on this remake on the Nintendo Switch.

Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy!

Chocobo/s Mystery Dungeon is another classic that’s making a comeback on the Nintendo Switch. Originally released on the Wii, Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon has you playing as an adorable Chocobo who raids dungeons and befriends monsters, adding them to your growing team. This revamped version comes with a few extra features, including more dungeons and a buddy system. You can even team up with your own buddy by splitting the Joy-Con for some couch co-op play. Together, you can embark on some pretty wild adventures in the dungeons.

Team Sonic Racing

Sonic and their friends are getting some new wheels in Team Sonic Racing. This Nintendo Switch game lets players race through dozens of different stages with some swanky remixes. There are over 15 different playable characters that are split into racing classes, each with their own unique abilities. You can also collect power-ups to gain a slight edge over the competition. Team Sonic Racing will support local couch co-op play, so you can beat your friends in a variety of different racing modes.

Dragon Quest Builders 2

Dragon Quest Builders 2 is dropping in later this year, building upon the first game with tons of new mechanics. There’s also a new story that takes place before Dragon Quest 2, but you’ll be much more concerned with building than actually fighting monsters here. One particular new feature is the addition of multiplayer, which the first game sorely lacked. The game supports local wireless multiplayer with up to four players, but each person will need their own console.

The Lego Movie 2 Videogame

Like the first game, The Lego Movie 2 Videogame will be following the second film, which is also coming out later this year. You can team up with Emmet, Lucy, and even Batman and journey to different worlds, looking for both Relics and Master Pieces. There are new areas to explore, and you can even revisit some scenes from the first film. You can team up with a friend for some split-screen couch co-op action once the game launches.

Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition

Tales of Vesperia had been one of the most elusive Tales games up until the Definitive Edition. Fans can finally enjoy the game on the Nintendo Switch, among other platforms, and follow Yuri Lowell and his group on a grand adventure across the world of Terca Lumireis. Vesperia offers a gripping narrative surrounding mysterious objects known as blastia, and it’s fleshed out with a colorful cast of characters. If you want to play some couch co-op, you can split the Joy Con and have up to three other friends participate in combat.
