Every New Game Announced at E3 2016

So many great games to look forward to!

At Bethesda’s E3 conference, they revealed a new Prey currently in development by Arkane Studios, the team behind Dishonored. This Prey is not a follow up, but instead a re-imagining of the original, set with a brand new story, character and setting.

A new admission in the Quake series was unveiled by Bethesda and is currently under development by id Software. Quake Champions is the first main entry into the series in over ten years and will feature an expansive cast of playable characters, each with their own skills and abilities.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is officially coming to the PS4 and Xbox One later this year on October 28. This remaster of a beloved game will feature improved visuals and console mod support. Those who already own Skyrim and it’s DLC or the Legendary edition on Steam will get a free upgrade to the Special Edition when it releases.

Although most knew of its inevitable announcement, Titanfall 2 was officially revealed at EA’s E3 conference. Titanfall 2 promises to deliver a ton of multiplayer customization, six new Titans to pilot, and a unique single player story which delves much deeper into the history and world of Titanfall.

As part of their EA Originals initiative, Fe was the first game announced by EA to receive their support. Developed by Zoink Studios, Fe is a 3D platformer that aims to explore our relationship to nature through song and a little bit of whimsy.

Steep is the next in-line for extreme sports games. Developed by Ubisoft Annecy and set in the Alps, players will be able to snowboard, ski, wingsuit and paraglide their way through various challenges in either the first-person or third-person perspectives. Steep boasts an open world as well as places great significance on online multiplayer and will be releasing in December of this year.

Bud returned to E3 this year as Ubisoft announced a sequel to the open world exploration game, Grow Home. Grow Up seeks to put more emphasis on vertical traversal and give the player more tools to explore this much larger environment which spans multiple worlds. Grow Up is to be released in August for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows platforms.

With the gameplay of Trials Fusion and the aesthetic and world of Farcry: Blood Dragon, Ubisoft announced Trials of the Blood Dragon at their conference and proceeded to release the game directly after it ended.

Just Dance is back again this year and this time for the NX and PC as well. Just Dance 2017 will be available October 25 for all platforms and March 2017 for the NX.

Due to its overwhelming popularity, The Witcher 3’s card game, Gwent, is receiving it’s own standalone game. Gwent will be free-to-play and is being developed by The Witcher 3 developers, CD Projekt RED for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Microsoft announced that Frank West will be returning to star in the next installment of the Dead Rising series. Dead Rising 4 will see Frank return to Willamette, Colorado during the holiday season 16 years after the events of the original game to deal with yet another zombie outbreak.

The very successful open world zombie survival game, State of Decay, is also getting a sequel. State of Decay 2 is in development by Undead Labs and will feature an expansive open world with a focus on cooperative multiplayer.

Forza Horizon 3 was announced at Microsoft’s conference and will take players to the outback of Australia. The game will again feature open-world gameplay and a four-player co-op multiplayer campaign. Forza Horizon 3 will also be part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program and will see cross-play between the Xbox and Windows platforms.

Though having been rumored for awhile, the new God of War was officially announced at Sony’s E3 conference with a full gameplay demo and will see Kratos return as the main playable character. God of War is set after the events of the original series, but will instead be influenced by Norse mythology and will have Kratos explore to new side to himself with the aid of his son.

Industry legend Hideo Kojima took the stage at Sony’s conference to unveil the new project he and his team have been working on, Death Stranding. Although the trailer left many more questions than answers, it will feature The Walking Dead star, Norman Reedus, and a whole lot of dead marine life.

It has been speculated for awhile that a new Spider-Man was in development somewhere at Sony, but it was officially revealed that Insomniac Games, the studio behind Ratchet & Clank, are developing the next adventure for Spidey. A trailer was released showing off some of the famous web-slinger’s moves as well as his stomping grounds of New York City. The game seems to feature a large traversal system and a lot of destructible environments.

Days Gone is a new post-apocalyptic zombie game created by Sony Bend, the team behind Uncharted: Golden Abyss. In it you play as a biker who’s lost it all and is only out for himself. Days Gone features quick moving zombies and a lot of open road.

The next Resident Evil was announced at Sony’s E3 conference. Along with being fully playable in VR, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard seems to shift the gameplay style to something inspired by Amnesia or P.T., the canceled Silent Hills tech demo.

The Sony team has recently been teasing the return of Crash Bandicoot and at their conference this year, they delivered. Crash Bandicoot 1, 2, and Crash Bandicoot Warped are all receiving full remasters for the PS4.

Batman: Arkham VR is a full VR game in development by Rocksteady in which the player will become the Dark Knight themselves in order to protect his closest allies and bring the criminals of Gotham to justice. The game is set to release in October of this year.

Final Fantasy XV: A King’s Tale was a surprise announcement from Square Enix at E3. The game is a throwback to retro side-scrolling brawlers and will have the player take control of a younger King Regis, Noctis’ father, as he battles his way through various environments with the help of magic, classic Final Fantasy summons, and his allies. It will be released September 30 and will be free to those who pre-order FFXV at specific retailers.

Ever Oasis is Nintendo’s newest addition to the 3DS. The game features town-building mechanics where the player will gather materials from exploration and combat in order to build their perfect oasis. Ever Oasis also boasts an action RPG-esque combat system and the ability to recruit wandering adventurers to join your party who’ll aid in solving complex puzzles.
