10 Consoles That Need the NES Classic Edition Treatment

These next, please!

SNES

The Super Nintendo is the next logical step for Nintendo after the NES Classic Edition and its library of incredible games. Just imagine Super Mario RPG, Super Metroid, Earthbound, Mortal Kombat II, F0Zero, Super Punch-Out, and more all playing on your brand new TV with a classic SNES controller. Seriously, who do we send our money to?
PS2

We all know that this is bound to happen at some point. The PlayStation 2 is Sony’s most successful console and helped cement some of the biggest franchises in our memories. A new era of Final Fantasy, GTA in 3D, Devil May Cry, Kingdom Hearts, Spider-Man, and so many more games made the PS2 the must-have console. A NES Classic version would just make that true again.
SEGA GENESIS

“Genesis does what Nintendon’t!” The original mega rivalry between console behemoths helped to birth some of the best games of the 16-bit era. Streets of Rage 2, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Golden Axe, and the Shinobi titles were some of the best action you could get at home. Why we don’t have a Genesis Classic Edition already is something we’re still trying to figure out.
GAME BOY ADVANCED

Around the time when Nintendo started running out of words to stick behind Game Boy, the Advance appeared and introduced the best handheld console to bear the Game Boy name. Some gems include Finfal Fantasy VI Advance, Super Mario Advance, Metroid Fusion (a must play), and other classics made everyone want one of these adorable devices. The NES Classic treatment of this highlight of Nintendo’s history is long overdue.
ATARI 7800

Yes, the Atari Flashback mini-console is a thing, but it did a poor job of porting over classic games and not all were actually 7800 titles. Atari deserves properhomage with the likes Galaga, Ms. Pac-Man (aka the best Pac-Man), Centipede, and more, there’s no shortage of retro gems to turn to.
PS1

Sony’s first foray into the console market introduced some of the most memorable games to the masses. Final Fantasy VII, The Legend of Dragoon, Chrono Cross, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, and more got their start on this incredible console. Now that we’re up to the PS4, it’s time to enjoy a blast to the past with the NES Classic treatment of this console.
GAMECUBE

The GameCube might have been Nintendo’s worst selling console, but boy oh boy did it have some really solid games. Super Smash Bros. Melee, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Ready 2 Rumble, Eternal Darkness, and many more are definitely ones that can make this remake a hit.
DREAMCAST

The Dreamcast is easily one of the most underrated consoles to ever be produced. An issue with bad timing and some other bad decisions made Sega left this one to waste away in the annals of history, but if you ask anyone that has played one they’ll tell you it’s one of the best consoles of all time. Sonic Adventure, Evolution, MDK, and Power Stone or just a few games that would make a Dreamcast Classic console a huge hit.
NINTENDO 64

The Nintendo 64 ushered in 3D gaming in a big way. Yes, the PlayStation was already available, but Nintendo went for fully realized 3D environment, analog controls, and more control of the camera, something console gaming sorely needed. On top of that, it has a stellar library including Donkey Kong 64, Mortal Kombat 4, Super Mario 64, and two of the best Zelda titles to ever release. Definitely worthy of the NES classic treatment.
