15 Mobile Titles That Almost Feel Like Console Games

For whatever reason, some people hate on Supercell games, but we’re not sure why. Clash Royale is an excellent RTS-lite experience on the go, that is incredibly simple to learn, but also has a high ceiling for advanced players.

Vainglory was built with tablets in mind from the get go and offers a complete, deep MOBA experience filled with everything fans of the genre would expect. It also has a notable esports scene too if that’s your thing.

Square Enix has experimented with Final Fantasy on mobile devices for a few years now with varying success, but with Mobius Final Fantasy, they finally nailed it offering turn-based combat and an addictive evolving job system.

Coming out of no where a few years ago, Fallout Shelter offers a quality sim experience backed up with a AAA-IP.

One of the OGs of mobile gaming, Modern Combat keeps trucking on now up to five numbered entries and a new game on the way in 2017. FPS on mobile without a controller is tough, but Gameloft has found a way to make it work.

When you think about tactical RPG games, Steven Universe is probably not the first franchise that comes to mind, but Attack the Light is a well done entry into the genre.

The first of a couple of GO games on this list, Deus Ex GO is a solid puzzle game set in the Deus Ex universe focusing on hacking and stealth.

Yeah Super Mario Run is a runner type game which usually only exists on mobile, but it’s a damn good one though with that Nintendo charm and shine that cannot be replicated.

Another of Ubisoft’s excellent GO games, Lara Croft GO is a winner of numerous of industry. Its turn based combat will have you carefully navigating Lara through another adventure, planning out a strategy as you go.

Infinity Blade was one of the earlier “modern” mobile games that showed off what the iOS platform was capable of visually. It’s also a damn good ARPG too with three games worth of content to pour through.

A more recent entry on this list, Afterpulse is a valiant attempt to bring tactical third person shooter combat to mobile with a focus on deep multiplayer PvP content.

Rayman Jungle Run, like Super Mario Run, is runner type game that stands out thanks to its polish and level design that makes it feel very similar to its console counterparts.

Like Modern Combat for the mobile FPS, Real Racing is one of the original “modern” mobile racers that showed off the power of the iOS platform. Now on multiple platforms as of Real Racing 3, it remains one of more polished racers on the mobile platform. However, be wary of Real Racing 3’s freemium model. If that’s not your jam, try one of the earlier ones instead.

Survival games are all the rage these days, and Radiation Island admirably brings the genre to mobile platforms. Similar to ARK: Survival Evolved, you’ll need to hunt, craft and explore in order to fulfill your basic survival needs.

Boat racers are few and far between these days, so we appreciate the Riptide games for bringing a Hydro Thunder-like quality experience to iOS and Android. If water based racing games are your jam, you’ll be impressed with any of the Riptide games.
