Best PS Now Games You Can Play Right Now – 2019

ps now, playstation now, best ps now games

PS Now is a subscription service for the PS4 and PC that allows you to stream/download hundreds of PS2, PS3, and PS4 titles for just a small fee every month. If you’re looking or the best PS Now Games to play right now, look no further.

The King of Fighters XIII PS Now

One of the greatest fighting games ever made.

It’s perfectly-executed classic fighting game style, beautiful HD pixel art style, and huge cast of SNK fighters make this a fighting game well worth going back to.

Journey

Journey was an extremely unique game for its time, and it still stands out today.

Not only was it overwhelmingly impressive visually, but its reserved use of sound completely compliments this short but emotional adventure. It’s even better if you manage to meet a stranger along the way.

Resogun

The enemies in Resogun weren’t the only things exploding when Resogun launched alongside the PS4 —the game itself exploded in popularity.

It’s a side-scrolling shooter with revolving stages like Defender, only with much prettier graphics and a co-op mode.

Ico

Fumito Ueda and Team Ico’s first release and one of the best escort quests you’ll ever find in a video game. Ico is an action-adventure game with a heavy emphasis on puzzles.

You play as Ico and have to find a way out of the prison castle with the help of Yorda.

Red Dead Redemption

With Red Dead Redemption 2 heading to PS4 very soon, there’s no better time to replay or jump into Red Dead Redemption.

With its vast, open-world 1911 America, emotional story, and fun third-person gunplay, Red Dead Redemption may just be one of the best games of the last generation.

XCOM 2

XCOM 2 is one of the greatest strategy games on a console. Turn on the Iron Man setting, and whenever you lose a teammate to the aliens, they will be gone for good. It’s a great way to test your strategy prowess.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

If you’ve played Skyrim —or even if you haven’t— you’ll want to give The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion a look.

It’s a huge open-ended RPG with a bunch of side-quests, tons of skills to level up, and many different guilds to join. Be warned though, this game may eat up hundreds of hours of your time.

God of War III Remastered

The last numbered God of War game still plays great and looks stunning to this day, especially the Remastered version which is available on PS Now.

It doesn’t get much better than mutilating humongous bosses with the Blades of Chaos. If you want a God of War game with a little less “boy,” check out God of War III.

Tearaway Unfolded

Tearaway Unfolded is much more than a port of the PlayStation Vita version. Unfolded utilizes the unique aspects of the PS4 controller the best that any game on that console has.

If you have a PlayStation Camera, plug that bad boy in for an even better experience.

Devil May Cry 4

PS Now has no shortage of high-intensity action games, and Devil May Cry 4 is definitely the most smokin’, sexiest and stylish on the service.

With Devil May Cry 5 around the corner, it’s a good time to get caught up on the happenings of Dante and Nero.

Batman Arkham City

Fans of the Dark Knight or otherwise have to give Batman Arkham City a shot.

It tells a very thought-provoking plot and nicely interweaves some great side-quests in their, too, each with their own cool narratives. The combat was revolutionary for its time and is still a lot of fun today.

The Walking Dead The Complete First Season

Let us pour one out for the folks over at Telltale. But instead of feeling sad, PS Now subscribers should go ahead and play one of the finest adventure games ever made and the game that shot the company into popularity: The Walking Dead The Complete First Season.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

The first Uncharted was a good game when it came out, but we didn’t know how good it could get until Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

The game was longer, the enemies were more ferocious, and the stakes of the journey were raised.

If you’re going to check out one Uncharted game on PS Now, Uncharted 2 receives the highest recommendation, but the first and third game are also on PS Now, so you can have a little marathon if you want.

The Last of Us

Naughty Dog were at the top of their game on the PS3 with Uncharted 2 and 3, but the best was yet to come. The story of Joel and Ellie still resonates with us today, and makes the game somewhat of a modern classic.

There’s a reason it started to crop up on many people’s “best games of all time” lists. If you somehow haven’t played this one yet, do yourself a favor.

Bloodborne

If you’re not a fan of the high fantasy setting of Demons’ Souls or Dark Souls, then perhaps the gothic setting of Bloodborne might tickle your fancy.

This From Software games swaps out shields for guns, allowing you to be a bit more mobile with your attacks. Don’t expect range to save you though, prepare to die a lot.

Dark Cloud

PS2 games have only recently been added to the PS Now service, and what better way to start it off than with a Level-5 classic. It’s an action RPG where you move through procedurally-generated dungeons.

If you’ve played this game a million times before, perhaps the addition of trophy support might make it worth another playthrough.

Mega Man 9

When Mega Man 9 released in 2008, there weren’t a whole lot of retro-inspired games around; Mega Man 9 was pretty special.

It returned to the 8-bit style of the first six games and proved to be just as challenging as they were, or even more so. It’s one of the best classic Mega Man games available.

Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time

The Ratchet and Clank Future trilogy may have been the highest point in the series’ history.

Being the third game in the trilogy, A Crack in Time had the best gameplay, allowing you to freely traverse space for the first time. The third-person action and the weapon system was just as good as ever.

BioShock

Even being open with its System Shock inspiration, BioShock was truly one-of-a-kind when it released in 2007.

The haunting atmosphere of the dystopian world known as Rapture blew our minds, and there still isn’t much that can contend with it today.

Gravity Rush Remastered

Gravity Rush was one of the best games on the PS Vita, so it’s a great thing that it’s been ported to PS4 for even more people to get their hands on.

It’s an action game with a beautiful anime art style and a fun mechanic where you can manipulate gravity for traversal and combat.

Catherine

Another game with a beautiful anime art style, Catherine. From the creators of Persona comes one of the most bizarre puzzle games you’ll ever play.

I say puzzle game, but the majority of your time spent in Catherine will be living out the awkward love triangle of Vincent, Katherine and Catherine.

Rogue Galaxy

PS Now just can’t get enough of its Level-5 PS2 RPGs. Different to many JRPGs, Rogue Galaxy sees you exploring the outreaches of space.

Although it uses a random encounter system, Rogue Galaxy’s battles feature a real-time hack and slash combat style.

Borderlands 2

If you know a friend or three who also have a PS Now subscription, you have to check out Borderlands 2.

FPS RPGs really don’t come better than this, and it has an excellent, full 4-player co-op mode, to boot.

Shadow of the Colossus

Games where it is your main goal to fight enemies are usually just a fun time, but that is certainly not the case with Shadow of the Colossus. It’s an emotional journey throughout, so be sure to have a box of tissues handy.

If you’re on the lookout for PS Now games that have appeared in multiple “best games of all time” lists, Shadow of the Colossus is right up there with The Last of Us.

Fallout 3

Fallout 3 is similar to another open-world, Bethesda-developed RPG available on PS Now, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion but with less of a high fantasy setting, and more of a nuclear apocalypse one.

Fans of Fallout 4 will be right at home with this game.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

It was immensely sad to see the end of Nathan Drake’s treasure-hunting adventure but Naughty Dog exceeded everyone’s expectation with this sequel and gave us the prettiest Uncharted game ever. It was a nostalgia trip for the ages that will go down as one of the best action-adventure games of all time.

Infamous: Second Son

Infamous: Second Son moves away from the gritty streets of Empire City and takes us to the rainy hipster city of Seattle. With a new protagonist in the spotlight, you’ll discover a variety of new powers while you make the decision of being a bad guy or a good guy –it’s all up to you.

God of War

Sony Santa Monica went out and rebooted the God of War franchise for the modern era and boy did they do a great job at it. God of War for PS4 has amazing combat, a more emotional story, and camera work that makes the entire experience feel more cinematic than ever.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Before Hideo Kojima’s unfortunate departure from Konami, he helped develop The Phantom Pain, a semi open world stealth title that gave players so many options when dealing with enemies. I revolutionized the MGS series and was a near-perfect farewell gift to Konami and MGS fans.

Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V is Rockstar at their best and is an example of an open world action game done right. There’s always something to do the massive city of Los Santos whether it’s blowing up cars, jumping out of helicopters, or going bowling.

That there does it for the best PS Now games you have to download if you’re paying for the service. If you’re also a Microsoft fan, you might want to check out our best Games Pass games list, too!
