Things You Didn’t Know About Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

You Can Stand on Your Horse – One of the cool things you can do in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is literally standing on the back of your horse. While this probably isn’t great for your horse’s posture, it allows you to jump off its back easily, and pull off quick assassinations. Also, if you’re running when you call your horse to you, your character will automatically hop onto its back when it’s near.

Spartan Kick Enemies Off Cliffs – The Spartan Kick is one of the abilities you can unlock early on in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. It’s not that great of an ability, to be honest, but it’s pretty darn cool. With it, you can kick your enemies off cliffs, but the fall won’t be fatal. This allows you to recruit them as lieutenants for your ship.

Abilities Can Be Upgraded Multiple Times – Once you unlock an ability in your skill tree, you might think that’s all you need to do. However, you can spend more ability points on that same ability to strengthen it even further. Take a closer look at the skill tree and you’ll see.

Killing Mercenaries Gives You Better Prices – Mercenaries in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey can be annoying, especially when they arrive in droves. However, killing more of them allows you to rise through the ranks quickly. As your mercenary rank goes up, you’ll enjoy better prices at the blacksmith.

Things You Didn’t Know About Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Your Decisions Actually Matter – Assassin’s Creed Odyssey marks the first time the series is letting you make decisions that affect the story. And guess what? These decisions actually matter, especially in the main path. Pay careful attention to what the game’s characters want, and make decisions based on that. There are tons of variations to the main ending, and if you’re not careful, you might end up with a pretty bad ending. Like I did.

You Can Fight for Athens or Sparta – There are conquest battles for each region in Ancient Greece, and the war between Athens and Sparta will never end. The nice thing about being a misthios in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is that you can side with whoever you want. Once you unlock the conquest battle, we recommend going with the side that will give you better rewards.

You Can Tame Animals – Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has a world that’s teeming with wildlife and animals. Once you unlock the right ability, you can tame even the most vicious wolves and have them follow you around. You can even pet them if you want. How cute.

Things You Didn’t Know About Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Sleep With Whoever You Want – While your main story decisions do matter, you can literally romance and sleep with whoever you want in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey with no consequences. Whenever you find an NPC with dialogue options and a heart symbol next to them, feel free to seduce them however you please.

Shanties are Dependent on Your Crew – Later on in the game, you can unlock cosmetics for your ship. This includes crew cosmetics, where you can have an all-male or all-female crew. The cool thing about this is that your crew gender actually affects the shanties that they’ll sing while sailing.

You Can Check Out Other Players’ Photos – Assassin’s Creed Odyssey comes with a pretty robust photo mode that’s packed with tons of options for you to play around with. If you bring up your map, you can also see photo icons. Click on those, and you’ll see photos taken by other players at that particular location. If you don’t want to see the photo icons on your map, just hit the R2 button.
