Most Popular Video Games For Children

Fortnite

If you have not heard of Fortnite yet, then you must be living under a rock as this cartoony third-person Battle Royale shooter has been the talk of the town for what feels like forever. But if you’re looking for a child-appropriate shooter for your kid, this one should be your go-to. And also, it’s free to play.

Minecraft

Minecraft is pretty much available on every video game console under the sun, including mobile devices. This simulation game will bring out the inner imagination of any kid, allowing them to build whatever they please and they can also do it with all of their friends.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate brings together all of the popular Nintendo mascots such as Pikachu, Mario, Link, and Princess Peach, and throws them into a free-for-all battle. There are also other characters outside of Nintendo’s reign that you can play as such as Sonic, Pac-Man, and that snickering Duck Hunt Dog. There’s no blood so it’s all good to go for any child looking for a fun fighter.

Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee

For any parent, you should know that Pokemon is one of the top picks for kid games and if your child has a Nintendo Switch, then Pokemon Let’s Go should be in their gaming library. They’ll go on an adventure with either Pikachu or Eevee and attempt to collect all of the original Pocket Monsters.

Just Dance

Just Dance has been around for years now, starting off on the Nintendo Wii since the motion controls worked so well with it. You can dance to your favorite pop songs of this generation and sweat out those carbs that you may be trying to lose as well. Just Dance is a great one for kids and parents alike.

Super Mario Party

The ultimate party game of any Mario fan, Super Mario Party has multiple game boards and dozens of minigames to play for everyone to enjoy. Play as your favorite Mario character and try to get all of those stars and you’ll definitely have some bragging rights, at least until the next match.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Again, if your children seem to be fascinated with racing or cars in general, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will definitely give you a bang for your buck. There are tons of karts, racers, and tracks to choose from, allowing for a multitude of options and variety. You can play with up to four players and thankfully, the Switch comes with two controllers out of the box.

Overwatch

If your kid takes the road less traveled by and doesn’t seem interested in Fortnite at all, Overwatch is a more competitive shooter that also has cartoony graphics. It may be a bit more tough to get a handle on the controls, so this is one for more of the older crowd, but still, Overwatch is great fun and teaches people the power of teamwork.

Roblox

Roblox contains limitless fun, as players can create their own games within the game using a design engine that Roblox offers. You can create your own avatar and jump in and interact with other players. Just make sure to filter out inappropriate words and/or phrases, as the game doesn’t do a great job at protecting kids from bullying or older players.

Splatoon 2

Another fantastic online multiplayer shooter for your kids to play, but this time, on the Nintendo Switch. Splatoon 2 throws the player int 4 versus 4 matches with a goal of getting your team’s paint color on the map as much as they can while also shooting other players who get in the way. You don’t have to worry about bullying or anything as the game doesn’t support text chat or voice chat unless your kid plays with close friends who also have the Switch Online application on their phone.

LEGO Series

The LEGO video game franchise spans multiple franchises like Harry Potter, Marvel, DC, Star Wars, and many many more. There’s always multiplayer in these games so you and your kids can take down super-villains together, save Hogwarts from Voldemort, or even use lightsabers to beat up Darth Vader –the possibilities are endless.
