World Tier Makes a Big Difference

Outriders Tips & Tricks

One of the most important Outriders tip or trick we can give you is that you need to be aware of World Tier.

World Tier is essentially a dynamic difficulty setting that will dramatically alter your gameplay. You might not even notice this when Outriders starts off at World Tier 1, and you may think you’re an Outriders natural since it’s so easy.

However, as you blast through the game, you’ll find that your World Tier level will increase and rank up to new heights.

By the time you start hitting World Tier 5 & 6, the enemies are going to be consistently higher level than you and the pressure will be increased. You may struggle and feel like you’re hitting some kind of difficulty spike.

While that’s true, it’s a difficulty spike you can manage if you want. By hitting your Menu/Options button, you can access the World Tier menu and make changes. If the game is too difficult, crank the World Tier down a notch. On the flip side, if it’s too easy still, you can keep it at the highest rank possible.

A big reason reason for keeping the World Tier high is that you’ll get rarer and stronger loot. Higher world tiers feature enemies that will be a higher level than you. When defeated, these enemies will drop gear at their higher level instead of yours.

Playing on higher World Tier difficulties also allows you to wear gear higher than your current level. This allows you to survive on higher difficulties, and can give you a huge advantage if you drop down a tier later on.

Understand Solo vs. Group Play

Outriders Tips & Tricks

Outriders plays very differently depending on whether or not you’re solo or playing in a team.

Outriders can be very challenging solo because all the heat is on you and you alone. If you’re planning on playing solo, make sure you’re building your character to reflect that. Pick perks and skills that will prioritize crowd control because, well, you’re going to be dealing with lots of crowds in Outriders.

If you’re playing as a team, then you can get away with speccing out your character to be more of a team player. You can play as an aggressive glass cannon since you know you’ll have someone around to pick up the slack if you screw up.

Outriders can be quite unforgiving with checkpoints at times too, so regardless of how you play, keep that in mind. You can respec, if needed, whenever you want while in the Skills menu.

Check Your Gear Often

Outriders Tips & Tricks

Outriders, despite not being a live-service game, is most definitely a looter-shooter.

Loot and gear is a critical part of the experience. If you’re ignoring it, then not only are you doing yourself a disservice as it greatly enhances the fun of Outriders; you’re also going to have a much harder time playing.

Gear makes a huge difference when it comes to surviving and thriving while playing Outriders. Higher rarity gear will feature mods that can either augment your skills or alter your weapons to be more powerful and destructive.

Keep an eye out for mods that enhance the skills that you like to use and that fit well with your build, and make sure you’re keeping up to date with your gear. There are few things more satisfying in Outriders than putting together a character that has synergy across their weapons, mods, skills, and class perks.

Item Rarity, Crafting, and Mods

Outriders Tips & Tricks

Speaking of gear, let’s hone in a bit on item rarity, crafting, and mods.

With all the pew-pewing you’ll be doing, it’s easy to just get into a trance and find that you’re pushing the story along without spending much time at your camp. However, if you’re planning on playing at higher world tiers, then you’ll need to eventually acquaint yourself with Dr. Zahedi at camp once he is unlocked in the story.

He provides a number of different services for you. He can improve the rarity of your guns, giving you the ability to add more mods to them. He can also raise their attributes, swap out their existing mods, and even level them up to keep them relevant longer.

You can use these services by dismantling gear you don’t need anymore for various Resources, and via the Resources you find while exploring Enoch. In addition, you can gain permanent access to mods for use in crafting by dismantling any guns that have mods applied to them.

Sure, if you play on a low enough World Tier, you can probably get away with largely ignoring these mechanics. However, like we said above, it’s way more fun to fine-tune your character and turn them into an Insurgent killing machine. Plus, if you want to play at the highest level, it becomes pretty much mandatory, so you might as well get used to it.

It’s Not Live Service, So Enjoy the Ride

Outriders Tips & Tricks

We’ve mentioned this once before, but it’s worth repeating: Outriders, despite appearances, is not a live-service game.

This means that once you beat the story – and take on post-game expeditions with friends or level up different characters – your Outriders experience (for now at least) is over. There is a possibility that People Can Fly could expand the game later on, but for now, this is the full experience.

So with that said, don’t rush your way through Outriders. Pay attention to the story, do the side quests, read up on characters in the Journal, and try to soak as much as you can in because it’s a large chunk of what you’re paying for.

Outriders isn’t Mass Effect, but it does have an entertaining story with some fun characters that are all at least worth paying attention to.
