Destiny 2

Destiny 2 has finally been officially revealed after a teaser a couple of days ago. With a trailer lasting just under two minutes, Bungie has given us a glimpse into the story that awaits fans later this year. It may have not lasted long, but there’s quite a bit to go into. As such, let’s begin with the enemy.

The Cabal are finally getting a bit of respect… they just had to crash a party at the Tower to do it. Under the lead of a vicious commander named Ghaul, the last city is besieged by huge ships and powerful enemies. You can see new attacks and even types of Cabal, as well as alien beasts, not just humanoid enemies.

 The Mission

Destiny 2

Destiny 2 is about the rise of new legends in a fight to take back their home. The enemy did more than shatter that last city. It seems as if they’re staying for the time being until someone forces them out. For the first time you can see civilians, individuals who aren’t armored or geared to fight. They are the people we’ve been fighting to protect from the darkness while planet hopping. This time, we’ll have to stand as the true vanguard, shielding them from the horrors ahead.

We definitely know that Earth is still part of the adventure, though, as that’s where the last city is. And you can see the Traveler hovering above – burning, but still protecting. It will be interesting to see where else we find ourselves, but the Solar System is definitely still the focus.

The Vanguard Is Still Around

Destiny 2

Zavalla, Ikora, and, of course, Cayde-6 are still around to keep order among the Guardians and everyone afraid of the enemy threat. During an inspirational rallying call, Zavalla is doing what he does best. He’s leading the people, inspiring hope, getting everyone to stand up and push back those that seek to oppress them.

Cayde-6? Well, he’s doing what he does best: making himself look good, bragging about his combat prowess, and keeping everyone laughing and lifting their spirits. It’s good to see that the cornerstone of the Guardians is still alive and well. We have no idea about the Speaker or anyone else just yet.  We hope that they’re alive and well, but only time will tell. The wreckage of the city does look really bad.

There Will Be Tons of Loot

Destiny 2

Leave it to Cayde-6 to make one of the most fun announcements about Destiny 2. Just in case you haven’t had that itch for loot scratched, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to satisfy that itch when Destiny 2 releases. While not much was shared about the game, other than enemies and the general story, we do know that one aspect of Destiny is carrying over to its sequel: a ton of loot.

Expect to collect a ton of different pieces of armor and weapons as you fight the Cabal and whatever other new threat we have in store for us when the game finally releases. No details on whether or not loot will change, but we’ll be sure to update you on that as Bungie opens up about their project.

When Can We Play?

Destiny 2 is due out on Sept. 8 this year on PS4, Xbox One, and, finally, PC. There will also be a Beta that you can get early access to by pre-ordering the game through a number of different vendors. The Beta date hasn’t been shared by Bungie just yet, but if the first game is anything to go by, we’re most likely looking at a summer window for players to see what it’s all about.

For now, we’re just going to have to sit down and twiddle our thumbs. Maybe cement our legends during the Age of Triumph event closing out the first game right now.

Until it comes time to answer this new call, safe travels, Guardians.
