Update: Bungie has confirmed HDR support is not working for PS4 Pro. The developer has stated via Twitter that a resolution is currently in the works.
Destiny 2’s first major expansion, Curse of Osiris, releases today, but the planned HDR support for the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro that was supposed to be patched in with the latest 1.1.0 update doesn’t seem to be working.
Project Lead at Bungie, Mark Noseworthy, tweeted an update stating that HDR support for the game was now live, but has since admitted the option doesn’t appear to be working. He stated that “top folks are looking into it” before confessing his own disappointment. Several people have made similar complaints on the Bungie forums.
Update 1.1.0 is a substantial patch, adding numerous changes to balance, bug fixes, and other adjustments. Super abilities now deal more damage to bosses, players begin recovering health sooner even with a low Recovery stat, grenade types deal more damage, and different weapon types have been tweaked. It was also supposed to finally introduce PS4 Pro and Xbox One X enhancements, including HDR support. PS4 Pro uses a dynamic 4K resolution, while the Xbox One X version runs in native 4K.
