One of the ultimate goals of Genshin Impact is to improve your characters, from levels to equipment. Not only can your character and party members level up, but so can your weapons. You need special materials, though, and leveling beyond the limit—called Ascension—requires special materials, such as Chaos-related materials. Here’s where to get Chaos Storage, Chaos Module, and Chaos Bolt in Genshin Impact.

To obtain Chaos Storage, Chaos Module, and Chaos Bolt, you must defeat Ruin Drakes in Genshin Impact. They come in two forms, excluding the boss (who doesn’t drop any Chaos-related items, anyway): Skywatch and Earthguards.

Which of the three Chaos-related items you earn are dependent on the level of the Ruin Drake you defeat:

  • Chaos Storage drops from Ruin Drakes of any level and type
  • Chaos Modules can be looted from Ruin Drakes level 40 and above
  • Lastly, only level 60 and above Chaos Drakes will drop Chaos Bolts

Finding Ruin Drakes can be rather difficult in Genshin Impact, let alone fighting one. Only a few spawn in a given area, and once one is defeated, you won’t be able to come back and kill it again for 24 hours. More importantly, you cannot find Ruin Drakes until you’ve reached Sumeru.

Once you’ve completed Chapter 2: Act 4, “Requiem of the Echoing Depths,” and reached Adventure Rank 35, you’ll be able to warp there using the tunnel at Cinnabar Cliff. With the map above, you can travel to the marked locations to find Ruin Drakes.

There you have it: where to get Chaos Storage, Chaos Module, and Chaos Bolt in Genshin Impact. It’s simple enough but difficult in practice due to the Ruin Drakes being some of the toughest enemies in the game.
