Each and every month, Sony puts up a fresh batch of downloadable games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. It’s often a mix of PS4 and PS5 games that you can play for as long as your subscription remains active. As we’re about to begin a new month, we’re giving you a rundown of the free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers in April 2022.

Hood: Outlaws & Legends (PS4, PS5)
Hood is an online multiplayer title that sees rival gangs battling it out in different scenarios that are largely based around stealing from the rich so you can, presumably give to the poor.
The Gold Rush PvPvE mode is arguably the most interesting, where two teams of four players are tasked with stealing and extracting treasure while battling against the other team and taking down AI guards trying to scupper your plans.
Each class has its own skills and abilities that can help you on your mission, so you’ll want to work with your teammates to complement one another’s attacks to emerge victoriously.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated (PS4)
The platformer from 2003 has been remastered for the PS4, and sees SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy making their way through iconic locales in Bikini Bottom to stop Plankton’s plan to rule the underwater town once and for all. Alongside some polished visuals, players will also find a two-player horde mode that can be played both online and offline.
It’s a fun little distraction, with plenty of unlockables to grab along the way. If you’re looking for a nostalgia trip, or just want something to play with younger members of your family, this is absolutely one to get downloading on April 5.
Slay the Spire (PS4)
Slay the Spire is a bit of a hidden gem. Rarely spoken about, but beloved by those who do sink some time into it, the game is a deckbuilder-cross-roguelike where you craft a unique deck from hundreds of cards, while ascending up the ever-changing Spire.
Each time you ascend the Spire, the layout changes, with risky and safe paths, different enemies and even different boss fights. It makes for an incredibly replayable and fantastic experience that you absolutely need to check out.
