Beating Thanatos in Lost Ark
Thanatos is one of the major boss encounters you’ll need to get through while you’re playing through the main story quests. His moves are pretty well telegraphed, but there is one mechanic that might throw players for a loop, especially if you’re still relatively new to RPGs.
Each time you deplete Thanatos’ health bar to zero, you’ll need to rush to the center of the arena to pick up the golden mirror on the ground. Once you have it, head under the beam of sunlight and hit the Q key, then use your mouse to aim the beam of light at Thanatos. You’ll know you’ve done this correctly once Thanatos himself starts reacting to the light.
Hold this position for a few seconds, and eventually the boss will be forced out of the darkness and back into the fight with you. You’ll need to do this twice and deplete his health bar a total of three times in order to clear the dungeon.
Thanatos doesn’t have too many dangerous moves, and you can simply hit spacebar to dodge and evade out of the way whenever he readies up an attack. Watch out for the move where he slams his fist into the ground, and make sure to avoid the pools of darkness on the ground when he does that.
