Where to Find the Golden Wolflord

This boss might actually be a difficult one to find if you haven’t been keeping up with the recent game updates and world quests. You need to clear the fog on Tsurumi Island before you can see the boss, let alone fight it.

This ghostly wolf is located on Tsurumi Island, right next to the southernmost Teleport Waypoint on the island. This is exactly where to find it:

How to Beat the Golden Wolflord

The Wolflord is a much larger version of the relatively new Rifthound enemies that got added to the game alongside Tsurumi Island. This means that your probable worst fear going into the fight is true — yes, it can cause the Corrosion status effect.

For those who don’t know, Corrosion constantly lowers the health of everyone in your party, even if they’re protected by a shield. It’ll only lower inactive party members’ HP to 15%, but it can easily kill your active member if your healing isn’t powerful enough. This is doubly true for a character like Hu Tao who performs better at low health.

That means, for this fight, you should have a solid full-party healer like Barbara, Kokomi, or Jean. Single-target and AOE healers like Diona, Qiqi, Bennett, and even Sayu are also good if their healing power is strong enough, though.

As for your DPS and sub-DPS, you’ll want primarily ranged attackers since the Golden Wolflord flies around the area between attacks. Ganyu, Yoimiya, Tartaglia/Childe, and Ningguang are great options. Ningguang is especially useful since the boss becomes weak to Geo when it raises its ATK. But if your best heavy-hitters are non-Geo and close-range like mine, you’ll need to wait and dodge far more often.

Genshin Impact Golden Wolflord Start

The Golden Wolflord has a few main attacks to watch out for, but the most dangerous is definitely the one that inflicts Corrosion. Whenever it launches the golden flying wolf heads at you like projectiles, you need to dodge them perfectly to avoid the status effect. I managed to do this by simply running in one direction around the perimeter of the arena as Ayaka until they stopped coming at me.

The second big attack in phase one comes when the Wolflord turns into a tornado and comes right at you. Thankfully, this can be avoided in the exact same way as the flying wolf heads — circle the edge of the arena. There’s also one attack where it’ll move along the ground and charge at you, but this can be avoided by dodging right or left out of the way.

After the frontal charge or tornado moves, the boss will rest in the middle of the area, and that’s the perfect time to attack. These rest moments between its moves are really the only time you can attack with close-range fighters, so make them count.

Once the Golden Wolflord’s HP goes down to about half, it’ll create a shield for itself and summon three wolf heads that sit around the edge of the area. These wolf heads will shoot projectiles at you and power the boss’s shield until you charge them with elemental attacks.

The fastest way to charge them is by using Geo attacks, but any element will work. Other elements will get the job done slower, but you can actually hide behind these wolf heads while filling their charge meter. Most attacks thrown your way will hit the wolf heads instead of you, including the Corrosion attacks.

Though, there is one laser attack that you’ll need a shield to guard against unless you manage to avoid it completely by lifting yourself up in the air with characters like Venti or Kazuha.

Once all three wolf heads are gone, the boss will lay still on the ground for an extremely long amount of time, giving you the best opening you’ll get in the fight to deal serious damage.

When/if it gets up, the battle will resume with the Wolflord using all of its previous moves as well as another that hits nearly the entire arena, save for some tiny telegraphed safe spots. From here, just continue the cycle of dodging old moves and attacking during rest times until the boss is defeated.
