Whenever you catch a new Pokemon you will of course have the chance to give it a special name, but if you’ve made a mistake or decided later on that you’d prefer to change it to something else, there is a solution.

How to Rename Pokemon in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

To change your Pokemon’s nickname in either Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl, you simply need to visit the Name Rater character in Eterna City. He can be found in the Eterna Condominiums, which is just beside the Poke Mart. He’s the bald guy wearing a blue suit.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the process to make it crystal clear:

  1. Visit Eterna City, then head to the bottom right of the map and enter the door next to the Pokemart.

  2. The old man with a bald head, wearing a blue suit is sitting at a table inside. He is called the Name Rater. Speak with him.

  3. Ask the man to rate the nickname of your Pokemon, and after he will ask if you would like to rename it.

  4. Select yes, and then change the name to your preference.

You can repeat this process as many times as you like.
